Love the lectures from the wise level headed sages that remember the 1992 season. lol
Does he understand had Holmgren not left we probably don't get Pete? These people that list off long names of quality coaches as reasons to never move on from a coach need to understand the other side of things.

Which is why I don't want a college guy. That fails too often. I don't want a retred....look at Sean Payton.

Demeco Ryans was the Defensive Quality Control Coach for the Niners in 2017. I bet Houston wishes they hadn't give this guy a shot before he went to college and cut his teeth for a few years right?
John Harbaugh was an assistent in Philly for ten years before taking the job in Baltimore. Ravens should have hired a guy that was a head coach first right?
McDermot was an Assistant in Philly from 1999 before taking the DC job in Carolina in 2011. Was there until 2017 when he went to Buffalo. Zero head coaching experience. Buffalo probably wishes they had hired a guy who had been a head coach first then failed right?
Zac Taylor was never a HC before. He took the Bengals to the Super Bowl in his third year.
Kevin Stafansky has never been a HC before. He is taking the Browns to the playoffs despite needing Joe Flacco to come out of retirement and be what, the fourth QB they have started? Oh, and lost Nick Chubb in like week five! They should have hired a retred or a college guy. Stupid.
Dan Campbell has only a short stint as Miami's interim HC in 2015. Five years later he takes a floundering Lions team in two seasons to a winning record and a Division Title and the playoffs in his third season. I am sure they wish they had hired someone else right? More experience? A head college coach or a retred?
Matt LaFleur had never been a head coach before taking over in Green Bay. They won three straight division titles, played in two NFCCGs and made the playoffs in four of the five years he has coached. So stupid, you have to have experience...don't they know that?
Shane Steichen has never been a head coach. The Colts missed went 9-8 after a disastrous year last year.
We all know about McVey. Too bad for us the Rams didn't hire some retred or a boring old college coach.
Mike McDaniel is 20 - 14 and making his second playoff appearance in his 2nd year of coaching. The Dolphins hadn't been to the playoffs since 2016 before he came aboard.
The jury is still out on Kevin O'Connell, but how many QBs did they play this year? In his first year ever as a HC the Vikings went 13-4 and won the division. Zimmer did pretty well there too though. Oh, Mike Zimmer had never been a HC before taking over the Vikings and going 72 - 56.
Shannahan had never been a Head Coach. Again, someone in our Division was smart enough to know that they don't need a retred or a College guy. Too bad for us.
Mike Tomlin had never been a HC. As much flack as he takes? Pretty damn fine career.
Nick Siriani is 34-17 and made the playoffs in each of his three years as a Head Coach. That sucks, should have hired a retred like Sean Payton.

Retreds?
Todd Bowles
Belichick. But he was hired in 2000!
Andy Reid. No complaints, but still, hired in 2013
Doug Pedersen. Ick
Mike McCarthy. So So
Sean Payton (LOL)

Yep, Harbaugh must be the best choice, because, I mean, look at that track record. Sorry, Harbaugh has Doug Pedersen written all over him. A guy that will feud with the FO and piss off the players. He needs to stick in college.
OK Michael if not Big Jim then who? Not another retread like Quinn? I mean just look at who's out there.

Any move they make is gonna get heavily scrutinized. Not everyone is gonna like it. You know what you get with Harbaugh. The only issue facing him is he's gonna want the same thing Pete had, total control over personnel. I mean let's be honest, you could do a lot worse. Jim Mora anybody? Anybody? Not everyone's gonna get who they want. Someone who has their own unique vision for how they want this team run. He would definitely not be the worst choice. Both Jim & Ben Johnson should be at the top of our list. He doesn't have to say yes. If not you move on to the next one. So again I ask you Michael, if not Jim then who?
There's no way JS gives that up to a new hire. Pete was his boss, the new hire won't be.

JS seems kinda the forgotten guy, this affects him. Assuming he is tight with Jody his power is increasing. Somewhere I was reading the possibility of his being made vice-president of football operations. We are focused on this coaching thing but there are other implications

Again, what about the post I made would make you think I want a retread? As I said, Ben Johnson or Eric Bienemy.

The only issue facing him is he's gonna want the same thing Pete had, total control over personnel. I mean let's be honest, you could do a lot worse. Jim Mora anybody? Anybody? What about Jim Harbaugh's career makes you believe it would be successful? Yes, I know what we will get. A fucking weirdo with a history of conflict. I will get to watch the biggest whinny bitch to roam the sidelines. I will get to hear more absurd bullshit than Pete ever spewed. Not to mention, if PC is still going to be in the FO, which I think he should. Have you ever seen those two go after each other. Remember "what's your deal?" Fuck to the No on Harbaugh. He is the worst of all words. A fucking asshat who is not only a college guy but an NFL retread.

So, again, Ben Johnson or Eric Bienemy. Maybe Steve Wilks. Maybe the DC in New York, Jeff Ulbrich. They might go that route if the decide they want defense. But, again, my guess is if that is the route they want, then Vrabel is the guy. As retreads go, that's probably the one that would annoy me the least.
What has Bienemy done to even warrant consideration? I'd hire Vrabel over him. Give a defensive guy a stud QB then watch him work his magic. Gotta hire a decent OC too. Vrabel definitely brings the toughness but still would prefer Ben Johnson. Helps when a guy like McDermott has a guy like Josh Allen.

I doubt Pete is giving up his VP of Football Ops job....are we hearing otherwise? Why would he stay with the organization then?

Be the OC for the Chiefs during a five year run were they made the AFCCG every year. Jesus, what does an OC need to do to be given a chance? I've watched the Chiefs a lot through the years. And the Chiefs lost Hill BEFORE they lost Bienemy. They won a Super Bowl in Bienemy's last year, and struggled mightily on offense the next.

I guess he doesn't interview well, is the rumor. But he is like the first name on everyone's short list when a job comes open, but you're right. Bienemy doesn't deserve it over a guy that went 6 and 11 this year after dropping 7 straight last year to miss the playoffs. That's right, Vrabel has gone 6 and 18 over his last 24 games, but by God, he had a job once so we should just ignore all of that.

Those NFL retread coaches, they are were it's at. We want Doug Pederson and Sean Payton, fuck McVey, McDermot, LaFleur, Shannahan, McDaniel and Ryans. Those guys? Fuck them, they've never experienced all there is to experience from being so shitty they got fired. We don't want that, we want the guy that lost seven straight to miss the playoffs then started out the next year 5 and 11. Fuck yeah!

He's going to an advisory role. Saw where Pete said he didn't know yet what that would entail. Doesn't sound like he's still VP

Pretty Clear that all the blame was put on Pete. Not only does Pete get FAR less power, JS get Far more power. I wonder if a GM has ever kept his job when the coach was fired and he wasn't the one doing the firing.

Definitely not. It is just a tactic to allow him to save face. He no longer has any power in terms of decision making.

Umm hello KC, Mahomes, Reid. EB has no say. Yeah & why doesn't he interview well. What kind of QB did Vrabel have. Tannehill seriously. Dude's lucky he's still in the league. Not even top 10. Give Vrabel an Allen or Mahomes or Lamar & he'd do wonders. It all hinders on your QB. McDermott has Allen, John Harbaugh has Lamar. He knows his side of the ball. Just gotta give him the pieces. Vrabel isn't gonna play prevent defense. He definitely had talent on that Titan Defense. You can win with a defense Head Coach just ask Belichick. Maybe Trevor Lawerence isn't the savior they all pegged him out to be. Jury's still out on Love in GB. Would he be my first choice no but he's not the worst. Hey Michael what about Harbaugh's DC in Baltimore, McDonald? He ain't no retread & he's done it on both the collegiate & Professional level. Gotta throw him in there too don't you? If your going first timers doesn't he have to be at the top along with Ben Johnson. Schneider wouldn't be doing his due diligence if he wasn't on the short list. Question is does he bring the same level of toughness & smarts like Vrabel.
