MM has some growing to do also, and with the next pieces on the coaching staff, an actual dedication to a top-tier oline, one more year with this emerging D, we should be good for a legit playoff run next season.
Must be nice to have the opportunity to grow.

Sam was probably the least prepared to play NFL QB I've seen since they were grabbing guys off the practice squad during COVID. My guess is he either isn't very smart or he doesn't work very hard. Hopefully he is smart enough to realize how utterly terrible he looked, and does a better job of preparing himself and being a Pro moving forward. But I think it's perfectly logical to give up hope on him as well. That was flat out awful. The guy had zero clues.

Regarding Howell -
He's obviously not in contention or they'd be talking about him more. The Seahawks aren't just down on him because he
couldn't do anything for two quarters against GB in relief, they already knew he wasn't much. He was a mistake.
However, the play calling Grubb dialed up for the failing back-up in that game WAS likely taken into consideration
when giving him the axe.

I was wondering if it was a coaching issue, they are supposed to prepare him to be ready. If I'm MM I'm wondering how they allowed him to be that unprepared. It's like a fire alarm, it's supposed to work when pulled. I would be reviewing how they prepare him. And Grubb didn't do him any favors with the play calling

Once again, couldn’t be that he didn’t study his play book or do the work it requires to prepare himself. Couldn’t be on the player. Had to be the coach, and never the head coach. Must be the assistant. Maybe they should have fired the QB Coach and O Line coach too?

Who said anything about what it had to be? But isn't that what coaches are supposed to do, prepare players to play? If it's about Howell being dumb and lazy then why did they trade for him in the first place? I was under the impression he had some pretty good production with the Commanders, that's why he was viewed as a possible Seahawks starter of the future, the reason for the trade

My comment was, if I'm MM I'm asking my coaching staff what the heck happened? I'm grilling them a bit. Their response is, he's dumb and lazy, won't study the playbook. Honestly, would that be an acceptable explanation? If he's dumb and lazy, hasn't studied the play book then what's he doing in a game? In my mind saying Howell is dumb, lazy and unprepared creates more questions than answers them

Yep, the coaches coach, but did it appear to you like Sam had even the slightest clue what to do with the ball when it was in his hands? Good Lord, again, this is the easiest city in the damn world to be a GM, player or Head Coach. All anyone wants to do is blame the assistant staff. The same GM that hasn't built a decent O Line in about a decade or more, traded for a guy that got in a game and had zero clue what to do. But? The guy that traded for him and the guy that had no clue what to do aren't to blame at all. Must be the fucking OC? Holy Shit this place is hilarious. Watch any fucking special on QBs, take a damn close look at how much study time these guys put in, and tell me that fucker Howell looked like that is what he did with his time? He is Kyler Murray 2.0. Had no clue how to run the offense and got thrown into a game and showed it. I wonder if his guilty pleasure is Call of Duty, or if he has a different game that occupies his time than Kyler?

Why was he in the game? Was Dickson going to play QB? Jesus Donn. You realize he is the other QB and the starter got hurt right? You can't play your emergency QB unless it's, you know, an emergency? Who would you suggest they played when Geno went down? So, in your opinion, they should have gone Wildcat? Put the Punter out there?

He was a former starter in this league they signed to be their backup. He SHOULD have been able to step in a game that was still at the time winnable and done ANYTHING. Instead he was 5 of 14 for 24 yards, threw an interception and was sacked 4 times. The worst first appearance in franchise history...a history that includes some really terrible QB play. But, since he plays in Seattle where the media and the fan base buy into anything the organization says? It wasn't his fault that he wasn't prepared. It wasn't John's fault for trading for someone that couldn't learn the offense. He appeared to not even know the playbook, let alone where the first or second read was, but couldn't possibly be his fault? It was week fucking 15! He should have at LEAST known the playbook. Did he look like a guy that knew the playbook? It would be funny if it wasn't so damn sad.

I am pretty sure that not many in this forum have coached above little league level. Just think you wave a magic wand and underperformers just all of a sudden perform. Shitty Offensive Lineman become top flight NFL starters because of the play caller.

Fire the hitting coach, fire the OC, wash rinse and repeat. Maybe we really are the coffee sipping sleepy little town they think we are?

If Howell is reluctant to study the playbook and prepare for possibly entering a game he's not on the active roster to begin with, Jarrren Hall is the second string. I don't want to hear Howell is a better more talented QB. If Howell is not prepared to do everything he can to help his team win he gets benched. You don't reward a lazy attitude with playing time. That to me is a pretty basic coaching principle. MM has brought it up himself. In my mind, if the issue is Howell is lazy and unmotivated to prepare to possibly enter a game, that creates more questions than it answers

MM... you don't think that would apply to Howell?
"Just like you see with all these guys, there’s going to be another opportunity. You’ve got to go earn it every day in practice. That’s the message. Guys that bring it every day and show up in practice and show up in games and help us win, they’re going to play. If you take a step back, then you’ve got to be accountable

What did you see with your eyes Donn? Did you watch the fucking game and see a kid that looked like in week fucking fifteen he knew the playbook?

Again, state an opinion. Do you think Howell knew the playbook and Grubb fucked him? Because what I saw was a kid with NO CLUE. I've stated my opinion. For once, have one.
