Re: Geno Traded to the Raiders!
If they wouldn't go to $45m with Geno (assuming he was asking for that much) then i doubt they would do it with Darnold.
Re: Geno Traded to the Raiders!
I really hope we aren’t about to be arguing who was better, Geno or Darnold. I’ll be team Darnold if we do, but the Seahawks will still be average.

I’m not sure they loved Geno even at $38 million.Bil522 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 09, 2025 5:19 amThey loved Geno at $38mill and traded him at $45milldouche wrote: ↑Sat Mar 08, 2025 10:08 pm"I want Geno to be here," Macdonald said on Jan. 7. It's a Seahawks decision, but Geno knows how we feel about him, and we love him as our starting quarterback, for sure."
I guess Schneider thought otherwise.
He’s 35.
They probably wanted him closer to $30M with no guaranteed money past the first year or something.

Pretty much all the national pundits seem to think LV won the trade. Seems to me JS should have been able to get more than the 92nd overall pick for a decent starting QB. Did he ask for the #68 and Spytek said no? I fucking doubt it. And did he shop Geno to any other teams? Again, i doubt it.

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/geno ... ound-pick/The two sides were roughly $10 million apart in negotiations, according to Sports Illustrated. Seattle was hoping to sign Smith to an extension that would pay him about $35 million annually, but Smith's camp was reportedly hoping for a deal that would pay him $45 million per season.

Honestly what has John S done right in a long time? Yes. Good deal for Russ.
But, how many good drafts in last 6? How many playoffs? How many playoff wins?
John has turned into a good not real good GM.

He isn't great, he's probably good, here he's ranked 13th. The 2012 draft was such an outlier. I believe over time every gm reverts to the mean terms of the draft. As did JS. You don't beat the draft like you don't beat Vega

JS is good. Just not real good. And the last 6 years have proved that. Problems designing a team. Same issues over and over.
JS just above average per the rankings. And that’s what he has proved to be.

Re: Geno Traded to the Raiders!
JS hoped Geno's play would stay on par w. '22 and that lateral moves would be enough to push the team forward.
It wasn't enough.
The team likely needed a larger rebuild following the Russ trade which IMO should have led with figuring out a long-term solution at QB. They should have traded Lockett and Diggs for draft capitol, built out the trenches with the money and drafted their replacements. Dre'mont Jones is also the worst signing of the JS era.

Worst signing? Maybe the resigning of Mr. fragile Adams.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sun Mar 09, 2025 9:42 pmJS hoped Geno's play would stay on par w. '22 and that lateral moves would be enough to push the team forward.
