Re: Next Franchise QB
Reward? Geno got hurt, and after the debacle when Sam went out there? They rushed Geno back. Do you even watch the games? He wasn't rewarded, he was thrust into action when the starter was hurt. And then? They played a still hobbles Geno the next week because Geno in a wheelchair is better than Sam.
Dude....rewarded? His only snaps all year where because they had no other option. Holy shit man.

Re: Next Franchise QB
But it was asinine calling pass plays 12 out of 13 snaps or whatever when he was out there. And no play action, so GB's defenders were teeing off on him.

Re: Next Franchise QB
Maybe, but we all believe Geno is below average. So he can do it but Howell can't even look like he's played the game before? The offense didn't change, the QB did...and we went from bad to historically bad because of it. Howell was a "what not to do video". Again, this is not an exaggeration. I haven't seen it that bad since the 90s. The game has changed, and Howell was clueless. Sorry, he didn't know the offense, didn't know what to do with the ball....horrid. Not bad, the worst.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 4:39 amBut it was asinine calling pass plays 12 out of 13 snaps or whatever when he was out there. A few play actions change that? Doubt it.
Re: Next Franchise QB
First of all, Geno is at least average. The majority of people have him above average.
Sports media has him getting a new contract that's at least $35 million. I heard Dave Wyman throw out the
number of $41 million. People are speculating Geno himself will be looking for more like $50 million.
This is not what a below-average QB gets paid.
It's hard to say what the second half of GB game would have looked like if Geno stayed in. It would have probably
been better, but they weren't going to come back and win the game.

If I had to guess, I’d say the following teams would trade us straight across for our QB.
Jets
Raiders
Titans
Giants
Saints (not if Carr is healthy)
If that is true...then of the other 31 teams, 26 of them would not trade what they have for Geno. And he is above average? Lots of QBs get paid because of what the market dictates, but that doesn’t mean they are elite.

Below average is not average. You said he was below average.Michael K. wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 4:27 pmIf I had to guess, I’d say the following teams would trade us straight across for our QB.

Above average is not elite. I think he's average, but many people rate him above average.
Many stats indicate he's above average. He's also going to be 35 years old and it's unlikely he will improve.

Re: Next Franchise QB
He was lazy in practice, wasn't studying didn't work at being ready to play. The coaches didn't notice this? If he wasn't prepared to play he shouldn't have played. That was the reward, even though he was doging it in practice he got to play anyway. You are supposed to reward practicing hard with playing time, withhold playing time for not practicing hard. He wasn't practicing hard and had a terrible game because he wasn't prepared to play, it was a mistake to play him. You agree with that don't you? That's on the coaches. You can blame Howell for not working hard but that's not letting the coaches off the hook. They are responsible for fielding players that are prepared to play. They should be able to deduce that, that's their job. If they can't do that it would be an issue seems to meMichael K. wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 3:01 amReward? Re: Next Franchise QB
I could be wrong, but pretty sure they only activate two QBs each game. So, once he goes in and shows that he has no clue? They would have needed him to take an injury to get anyone else in the game.
These guys barely practice as it is. How many reps do you think they get to see the backup? Have to expect he is a pro and preparing himself. Howell didn't look like that to me.
