Grass at Lumen would be rain soaked and muddy in fall and winter. Bad idea.

It won't once the season starts...
Lumen Field does not have a permanent real grass surface. Work to install a temporary hybrid natural grass surface over the existing artificial turf began in March 2026 ahead of international soccer matches, meaning real grass has only been in place for a few months.

Surface Details
Installation timeline: Work to lay down the temporary drainage, sand layer, and sod started in March 2026.
First use: The U.S. women's national team tested and played on the new grass surface in April 2026.
Reason for change: Installed strictly to meet strict FIFA requirements for tournament matches.
Future plans: The grass is temporary and scheduled to be removed to revert back to the stadium's standard artificial turf surface.

The point isn't about grass it is about him deferring to the Football minds regarding Football issues...

Yes, thank goodness he has the intelligence/business sense to defer those types of decisions to those who have practical experience with a specific issue like that. Paul Allen was generally that way also, although his decision to go with those weird "Seahawk Blue" uniforms in 2001 and stick with them for a decade was unfortunate in my opinion.

Not a uniform guy at all but those were like Keanu Reeves is to acting. I never noticed bad acting until I saw him in movies and I never notice bad uniforms until I saw those horrible things.
