Hawks v Shartriots - Predictions

Post by auroraave » Tue Sep 08, 2026 1:12 pm

I have this uneasy feeling New England stuns us at home. With the disaster that is our injury-riddled secondary and Antonio Brown running around and this still being basically a preseason game, I think NE gets it done 27-24.

Who knows with a first game of the season. They can be a crap shoot. Remember how rough last seasons was. It is kind of an extension of the pre-season. Remember some horrendous ones with Pete. Then it was basically the offensive line. They would just be terrible. That they have a veteran line should help. The brand new OC and RB could be an issue getting the offense going. What it might come down to is Myers. If he comes out missing FGs. I think they will be okay, particularly with it a home game.

I don't want to jinx things looking ahead. But I could see them 5-0 going into the Denver game. That to me is going to be the test. Coming off a short week, having to play at altitude against what looking like a tough team.

I'm thinking 24-16 Hawks, no cakewalk. My Week One upset is the Whiners spanking the overhyped jet-lagged Lambs in Melbourne 23-20.

So you're aware of the different approaches of the two teams? It's interesting, the 49ers have been there over a week. The Rams arrived like the day before. The jet lag angle will be interesting. And it goes beyond just the game. The 49ers have spent the week doing public engagements. It's listed as a Rams home game but the feeling is the 49ers have flipped that. The point of the thing was sell football to the Assies and the 49ers have really gone about trying to do that

The Patriots will be highly motivated. I really hated the scheduling choice to open the season with a rematch of the Super Bowl. Also, the decision to not include Bell on the 53-man is looking pretty bad now given his years in the organization.

Patriots 30
Seahawks 21

I'm worried about this game too as it will be like Week One last season where it's essentially a preseason game for the starters. On the bright side, while we lost to the Niners at home in last season's opener, they lost to the Raiders at home.

Hopefully we treat this as a must-win and beat the snot out of them again, because we might well have to win at least 14 games again to stay ahead of the Rams.

It's an issue, it's true about jet lag, it's kinda delayed. I never really felt it going west. Coming back to the states it would kick my ass

The Rams approach
Late Arrival:
The Rams plan to arrive in Melbourne just 24 hours before kickoff, landing on Thursday for a Friday morning kickoff. Coach Sean McVay's team is betting they can beat jet lag by ignoring it, keeping players' circadian rhythms close to West Coast time. The approach is modeled after a successful similar routine during a trip to London

The 49ers' Approach
Early Arrival:
San Francisco arrived in Australia a full week ahead of the game to fully acclimatize.

I am rooting for the 49ers. Donald and Garrett have no match vs. Mr. Irrelevant.
