Post Mortem - Lamar Jackson
Post Mortem - Lamar Jackson
I just don't get something. Maybe I'm really stupid, and I'm nowhere near the level of a high school defensive coach.
But why would you ever let 1 guy beat you with his legs the way Lamar Jackson continually did on Sunday. He's obviously not the greatest passer in the league, so why would you not keep 1 spy or even 2 spies on him the entire game and not let him break off 30 yard runs whenever he feels like it.
I can guarantee you a coach like Belichick wouldn't allow that more than once in a game. Just so frustrating that the biggest plays in the game should have been something schemed for and planned for. We look like we didn't have a clue out there defensively.

Yeah, definitely a head scratcher. btw You get to see you Belichick handles him in just 11 days when they play at Baltimore on Nov. 3rd. Speaking of the Pats they have a 223-48 point differential. Average score of 32-7.XpertDBA wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2019 2:20 pmI just don't get something. Maybe I'm really stupid, and I'm nowhere near the level of a high school defensive coach.

My guess is we had a spy, he just failed at his job. Whether he wasn't in position or wasn't fast enough, he failed at his job.
All that, and if we don't throw a pick six and don't miss a FG we win the game. A lot of hand ringing about a defense...when the offense gifted them nearly half the points scored.

He's not a bad passer by any means. Definitely good enough to beat a defense with two spys. His deep threat was even out that game. Ravens scored one offensive TD and that was in the 4th. Defense contained Jackson pretty well. Someone that fast can run past the spy just as well as any other defender.

I keep thinking about that play where he scrambled left, got hemmed in by three defenders, cut back and smoked all the three of them and busted it down the field for 20. That guy runs better than most running backs.

I kinda agree with you and kinda don't. The turnovers are unacceptable of course and I'm not doubting the math on the points, but this game was also the tale of two halves. The Seahawk players interviewed after the game stated the Ravens came out in the second half doing things they never had seen on tape from the Ravens. When Jackson decided to put it on his back and move the chains or score the TD, the Seahawks were helpless to stop him. When the Ravens defense put up points, the Seahawks got the ball back immediately which took the ball away from Jackson, who likely would have controlled the clock and put up more points anyway without the turnover. We were whipped.Michael K. wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2019 3:27 pmMy guess is we had a spy, he just failed at his job. Whether he wasn't in position or wasn't fast enough, he failed at his job.

Re: Post Mortem - Lamar Jackson
The Ravens ran a college offense where Jackson was the lead ball carrier most of the year last year, and he was basically a one read and scramble QB last year. I find it hard to believe there was no tape similar to what they did Sunday. It wasn’t exotic, he was just faster and better than us. If players were confused by what Baltimore did, we have not only gotten slower on defense, but much stupider as well.

I think SEA underestimated BAL. I think Carroll's ego gets in the way sometimes. I also think that BAL had a better game plan. Before that game, the Raven's D coordinator expressed concern about trying to contain Wilson. Turns out SEA couldn't contain their guy.XpertDBA wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2019 2:20 pmI just don't get something. Maybe I'm really stupid, and I'm nowhere near the level of a high school defensive coach.

I would love to have the Ravens DC. Guessing that guy will be a HC as soon as next season.

Wanna bet? Seahawks did scheme to stop Jackson. Just like teams scheme to stop Wilson each week. Great players make plays. That simple. You don't think Earl gave that D insider information about the offense and Wilson?
Hawks might have lost to the eventual Superbowl champion.
You should watch this video before you say Hawks got beat schematically.
