Certainly don't need 4 of them. I still can't fathom them playing SIX back in the day.

Worst idea ever. Players lives depend on those games. No people don't like watching them but it's not their job, players rely on those games, reducing the preseason will only hurt the product on the field even more. All a money grab at this point with all the safety bullshit. You would think the union would have more sense then this.

Players will happily go far it given jump in revenues and thus the salary cap.

Not the point. Yes the added revenue is nice but at the end of the day it's all about who makes the cut. 2 games to see who makes the final 53, how's that gonna work? Limited practice. I get what their trying to do but I just don't see how that doesn't benefit the owners more. It's not always about the money.

Seems like we've had all these arguments before, but just to dust them off again: I'm all for it conditionally, only if each player has a 16-game limit (kicker, punter, and snapper excepted). Yes, even including the QB. That adds a whole nother level of intrigue to me, having to scheme for the whole season, not just week to week, knowing that each player will have to miss at least one. You would completely expose the coachspeak about respecting all opponents equally. Plus all kinds of other decisions, like do you dare disappoint the fans making your QB miss a home game, even if it is the best choice strategically? do you make one particular week a throwaway and make that the off week for all starters, or do you mix and match? for armchair wannabe GMs like myself, its a dream come true. :)

I am not concerned about the players but i do wonder about the product. I think there are already issues with the lack of practice before the season begins. I see this as along the same lines as other changes they made, playing in London, Thursday night football, its more improving revenue as opposed to improving product. It might be nice to see some ideas come out of the commissioners office that seemed more focused on product as opposed to revenue at some point

If you mean the pre season, how do you figure? Most of the players don’t even play in them.

I would be more in favor of adding a second bye week for each team. That would allow them to get more broadcast revenue at least. And then reduce the preseason to three games.
