Sounds like it could be front loaded, like 52 mil the first year. I think it's an overpay and a mistake.

Can't disagree. The Saints may have overpaid as well.

The Saints gave Carr, 31, the former captain of the Las Vegas Raiders, a four-year contract reportedly worth up to $150 million. It guarantees him $60 million the first two years and $100 million over the first three years if the Saints want to keep him a third season.

Geno seems like a humble guy, and he wants to win.

Is the contract a bit rich? Sure, but that's the NFL QB market.

Hell I'm willing to go with Geno if we finally build the trenches.
Winning starts up front imho. Both offense & defensive lines.
They have enough toys .i.e. receivers, running backs, and now their QB locked up.
Draft some BEEF!

I don't think it's exactly "front-loaded" - they have like 24m in cap space so that doesn't seem possible. Usually a good chunk of it is a bonus, which gets prorated over the length of it. They haven't released the terms, but let's say it's 22, 25, 28m with a 30m bonus. That's a 32m cap hit this year, which is less than the franchise tag.

Considering the price of non-rookie QB contracts, this is very middle-of-the-road. So for it to be an overpay and mistake, you're saying Geno is not at least a middle-of-the-road QB?

100% agree with all of this. Signing Geno means one less hole that needs to be filled. DT, MLB, C, G - load up on draft picks right up the middle, still need a backup QB, but this means we don't need to reach for a year 1 starter.

Wow. Absurd.
One decent half season performance over a decade.

The Seahawks my implode in 2023.

Too bad.

Disappointing. I know rookie QB's are like lottery picks but still I would have rather gone that way. With Geno we just guarantee ourselves 9-8/8-9 records and that's about it. He's simply not that good as we all know, he's not a SB winning QB. He's steady, he's ok, but he's not a QB that can go out and win it for you in the clutch. Guess this was Pete saying he doesn't have another 2-4 years in him to develop a QB and try for it all - he'd rather roll the dice with Geno.

35 mil is middle of the road? Guess i haven't been keeping up on current events because i thought it was more like 25 mil. And yes, Geno is very middle of the road.
