Seahawks intend to release Shelby Harris. The move saves the team roughly $8.9M

beat me to it. I bet they try to bring him back at a cheaper deal. He was solid, but not 9million/year solid. I thought they'd try to extend him to ease that cap hit, but guess he wasn't going for it.

This, plus Geno's contract and Gabe Jackson cut opens up the possibility we actually DO make a splash move in free agency.

I'm glad you said that about bringing him back. He was a solid run stopper. He didn't grade out as the best tackler.

I think they will create a few ripples in FA but I'd be surprised if it were a splash move. A little splashy to me would be CB Cameron Sutton, DT David Onyemata or Bobby Wagner.

Looks like Javon Hargrave to the Niners in a fairly huge deal.

Not what I wanted to see.

At all.

Geez. I wonder if they hold on to McCaffery.

yeah but they also lose starting RT McGlinchey. so might just be a wash.

How do they manage to afford that?? They had like $4 in cap space, and sign him for $21/year? Seahawks need to learn how to be creative with the cap like this.

About what I was wondering as well. I thought they were a bit squeezed for cap space and picks in the draft -- and all of a sudden, they are signing FA studs with comp picks galore.

I truly hope we slap them next year.

I truly don't understand how SF can pull this off. They have 3.7m in cap space, and the only cut they can make that yields significant space is cutting McCaffrey.

https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/san-francisco-49ers

Even if they cut McCaffrey, Armstead, Charvarious Ward and Juszczyk they wouldn't be able to afford 21 million. Add in the allotment for draft picks and they'd need another 8-10 million, and there's nobody that they could save more than about a million with.

There's some shenanigans going on and I don't understand it.
