A fascinating look at YAC and how it is holding us back
A fascinating look at YAC and how it is holding us back
I was going to put this in the 3rd down conversion thread because it is a big part of that. If you are going to throw short of the line to gain on 3rd down and you suck at YAC wtf are you doing?
I imagine they targeted TSN and McIntosh to improve YAC.

I think it's a product of not having/using a slot receiver or RB out of the backfield at all. Crossing patterns are great YAC plays, and we just haven't run them. They just throw it 40 yards downfield and get yards that way. Hope you're right about JSN and McIntosh helping out with this - they should fit this need perfectly.
I think the real concern is the YAC that other teams got against the defense last year.

Yes, I think being better at both will lead to at least two more wins. I think we go 11-6 and the 49ers finally falter for forgetting to address the QB position in a reasonable fashion and we win the West.SeattleAddict wrote: ↑Thu May 18, 2023 2:26 amI think it's a product of not having/using a slot receiver or RB out of the backfield at all. Was never a big fan of Golden Tate, but he was a guy who seemed to gain a lot of yards after the catch.

I love Golden Tate and I hope he gave Russ's ex the rogering she needed.
Plus, he's an outfielder on the Port Angeles Lefties again this year. (West Coast collegiate summer league)

Well if you just pulled that observation out of your ass it's pretty darn astute
The former second round pick has proven to be one of the toughest players in the league to tackle. Over the last five seasons, Tate leads all wide receivers with 1,003 yards after the catch, over 300 yards more than the next highest player (Larry Fitzgerald, 674), according to Pro Football Focus

I wonder if she regrets it in hindsight. Imagine how much she would have walked away with if she had waited a few years.Millikin wrote: ↑Fri May 19, 2023 3:43 amI love Golden Tate and I hope he gave Russ's ex the rogering she needed.

Thanks Donn, I actually did pull that out of my ass. I Just remember him being a very slippery player after the catch.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri May 19, 2023 4:24 amWell if you just pulled that observation out of your ass it's pretty darn astute

I will never forget when he destroyed my Huskies during this game. He and Kearse combined for 17 catches and 338 yards. I was so distraught I took a walk in the middle of a monsoon. My dog was pissed.
