After so many bad drafts that is just a stunning success rate.

They've drafted well lately, but that also reflects their reluctance to sign any impact FAs.

We'll have to wait and see how the O line looks. They seem mediocre at best right now. And there's a good chance Evan Brown will be starting at C or G, but that would still be 9 of 11.

You make it sound like they are being cheap, they have spent to much he CAP. It's not about saving money, it's allocating it.

Far as I'm concerned impactful FA signing is operating at the top of the food chain, it's lazy, unimaginative. How many impact FAs has Bill Belichick signed over the years.?

I wasn't saying they should, just that they haven't. In fact, i was not in favor of the big contracts they gave to Wilson and Adams and i have never advocated doing that in FA.. But you have to draft (and coach) well if that approach is going to work, and the didn't for many years.

I misunderstood the tone, they avoid spending in FA. You do need to pay players from time to time. The RW contract was successful. I have a lot of respect for how JS does his job. I think contracts, their negotiation, cap management is what he is strongest at. The RW contract at the point where the broncos renegotiated had become a deal. The Adams contract hasn't worked out but there has been injuries.

I believe the Hawks over the period Pete has coached them have the second best record in the NFL behind the Patriots. That might not be accurate, but they are right up there. They must have done something right

Ths roster has been mired in mediocrity since 2015. Coaching has been decent though, no argument there.

Yeah, I think Pete's coaching has covered the poor drafting. I read the same sort of thing about Belichick. Belichick the coach would fix the mistakes Belichick the gm would make

I'm absolutely jacked about this season. So much youth, so much potential, so many weapons. We may finally be back to the perfect storm that is Pete. Young guys buying in and working hard. Sky's the limit.

I doubt they are top 3 since 2015 but they are certainly top 10. I credit Carroll for turning 8-8 talent into 10-6 teams.

I never liked that last deal they made with RW. Did he play up to it on the field? Maybe statistically but (as we have been learning since) he wasn't a good teammate and wasn't respected by the rest of the players.

Adams deal was a joke. Even at his best he wasn' t worth that, but coming off injuries it was idiotic.
