And it is all that - they go into the SB loss, all of it. Pretty epic. In the comments section - even 49er fans are showing mad respect. Pretty cool. Enjoy!

Certainly a therapeutic interview for these two.
I had no idea that the answer to the SB loss was that the philosophy was solid. I can understand it, but a very tough pill to swallow. That said, I sure don't miss Bevell.

I am certainly going to check out this interview, so full disclosure, I haven't heard what Pete said to Sherm just yet. That said, throwing was going to have to happen, but ONLY if they didn't score on second down. So I am still surprised they threw it on second down. Run a little more clock, hand it to Beast...if he gets stuffed, call the timeout. Then they throw on third down, but run ANYTHING but a slant to Ricardo Lockette that asks Kearse to out physical Browner. STUPID play call. I still believe that Pete said pass, and he did it one play too early, IMO, but Bevell called that monstrosity of a play.
They also got bit by shitty ass clock management, again. I will go to my grave saying the Belichek banked on that. We blew a couple of timeouts, and knowing that, and know our sideline would panic? Bill let the clock tick. Let us beat ourselves. The incredibly painful amount of timeouts we wasted during Pete's tenure here because we couldn't get a play in was TOTALLY avoidable. And, again, in my opinion? Completely forgotten about in this loss. Don't waste the timeouts they wasted and passing wouldn't even have been a thought! But, the world, and especially Seahawk fans, are so used to this? We never hear about it.
All that is good about Pete, the emotion, etc.? Is why this happens. Take the good with the bad, I get that, but why not just hire someone to micromanage this shit? Jesus, most every pro athlete these days hires a mental performance coach. The Seahawks can't hire someone to help them lean down the clock management process? Now, again, doesn't it seem like it has gotten better? How odd, why would the clock management get better after Wilson leaves? Maybe this was again not an issue with Pete and the staff, but one they shielded Russ from. Look no further than us beating them in week one last year to see Russ try to manage the clock.

I think you just have to give it to butler for making the interception. A great play would have been to knock the ball down. To catch it went beyond great

I think we all need to reexamine our takes on bevell based on all the new info we have on Wilson over the past few years. I was hypercritical of him, but have since realized I owe him an apology. Seems pretty clear wilson burns through OC's - after a while you have to take a look at the real problem. It's been wilson all along. Not sure what bevells ceiling is/was, but I know I feel differently about him now. Let's not forget he used that read option to perfection - that was peak wilson. It's cool to see the genuine affection between Pete and Sherman - they left a lasting impression on each other and despite how sherman left - he still is a seahawk through and through. Not many teams have the vets come back like seattle does - it does seem to be a very special place - and that's a huge credit to Pete and John.

It was but you can't throw a pick in that situation even if it was the greatest play in the history of sports.

And he was pretty successful, they ran out some pretty good offenses and went to a pair of SBs, and on top of that he has continued to be employed as a OC around the NFL

And if you had given it to Lynch the truism would be you can't fumble in that situation, and he might of as much as butler picking that ball.. That's what I'm saying, that pick was the equivalent of a Lynch fumble. It really was a fantastic play. That's my answer to the second guessing of they should have given it to Lynch. Okay, but you still need to have a fantastic defensive play in there. Giving it to Lynch doesn't erase what butler did. So butler punches the ball out of lynch's hands, same difference as I see it.
If it was like 4th and three and instead of giving it to Lynch they got cute and tried a pass. That could be second guessed. But that was a throw away, an incompletion doesn't hurt them. Yeah, the pass is batted down, big deal. How often is that pass actually intercepted? I doubt very often. Like a Lynch fumble.
Give it to Lynch, but he fumbles it because that's the equivalent of the defensive play made on that pass

It's all coulda, woulda, shoulda now, but I never understood why they didn't throw a fade to the back of the end zone to Matthews. He was on fire that game. Tall, physical receiver. If he doesn't make the catch, the ball falls incomplete. Live for another down.
Nothing against Lockette, but he would never be my first choice, certainly not in a game of that magnitude. And throwing into traffic at the goal line is never a good thing, in my opinion.
