So are we ready to retract the mean things we said about him?

Don't look now, but Jaxon Smith-Njigba is developing into the elite pass catcher some envisioned while evaluating the Ohio State product ahead of the 2023 draft. The slick route runner has torched opponents between the hashes, exhibiting exceptional discipline and timing while working the middle of the field.

Heading into Week 13, Smith-Njigba ranked in the top 10 in the NFL in receptions (66) and receiving yards (755) while leading the league in the following categories from the slot: routes run (344), targets (77), catches (53) and receiving yards (619). Most impressively, he has compiled those gaudy numbers while carving out a role on an offense that features established playmakers DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett on the perimeter, to the point that he's pacing the team in targets (93).

Why would it finish T-Lock he is still a good pass catcher. I mean he is being paid a lot of money so there is the distribution problem.

His contract, they are going to be right up against the cap.

Or Metcalf, not only is it the money, JSN needs to get the ball more. You move him up as a primary receiver and add a rookie behind him

I was thinking about that, a month ago it was all "He's not a #1". He must read our forum because he's been one of the best in the league since.

Both he and Witherspoon are starting to take off. If Hall and Charbonnet can get it together that draft will be comparable to 2010 (Okung/Thomas/Chancellor).

I would disagree with moving on from Metcalf. On the broadcast after he was injured, they had a stat that said with DK they were averaging more than 10+ points per game vs with him out. So, DK is that guy that puts fear into defense and D coordinators.

But you could be right.

In 2025 Tyler's cap hit is 30,895,000 with just 4M in dead cap. He is still good but probably not worth that.

Neither Bobo, or Young replace Tyler, but they are not bad, and you should be able to find somebody in the draft or FA for cheaper or simply ask if Tyler will accept a new offer.

It's JSN that is going to replace Lockett, he's going to become the primary receiver, him and DK. They will need to find a replacement for JSN as the 3rd option. I wasn't saying to get rid of DK but more anything is possible. Something has going to give in terms of the catches and the contracts. Just in time for JS to manipulate some cap space
