Next Franchise QB

Sam Darnold anyone?
no reason to think the Vikings wont try to resign him (other perhaps than McCarthy), but perhaps by dropping Geno we can outbid them and all others?
Given the paucity of candidates in the 25 and 26 drafts, i dont see a much better bet on the horizon. And if that fails, take a flyer on McCarthy - can't cost more than a second-rounder at this point. I'm not at all sold he's the answer, but at least he gives you upside, and you could groom him for a year bringing Geno back for one last hurrah.

I don't see why Minn wouldn't franchise tag him to keep him another year while McCarthy develops. It's only $38 million and nimrods are suggesting Geno get $40-45.

Sign Justin Fields... 2 years $20 million. Draft a QB... roll with it.

Fields has 10 TD's... 5 throwing, 5 running and just 1 pick for Pitt. He's just 25 years old... Penix is 24. Bo Nix is 24.

Sam Darnold isn't going to put up those numbers behind this offensive line. Don't see what's so hard to understand about that. Bring in Tom Brady in his prime and he wouldn't put up numbers close to what he did in NE.

Not disagreeing with that, but he'd be better than Geno. Not an either or, they both need upgrade. Signing Darnold solves one of those.

I could get behind the Fields idea. Go draft offensive lineman with the top of your draft. Charles Cross is running an 83.5 PFF. He gives you something to build around. Draft your RT in the 1st. Go get a center and RG in the 2nd and 3rd. Or, you could go with getting an O-line in FA, or trade and then some combo of upper draft picks to complete.

Could you imagine if the Hawks had the type of running game the Ravens have?

I second Fields. However, I don't think it's a given that the Steelers will commit to RW. The Steelers could go with Fields.
I also don't think Grubb can be the OC if you plan on Fields starting.

I would tend to agree. You are going to be running a run heavy offense with Fields. Grubb treats the run game like the plague.

They have not had a lot of success this year with it. But I saw against the Bears they had a focus on it. I mean this is the NFL. If you have the players, you should be able the scheme up some stuff.

Josh Fields has a 4.45 40 time. He is elite. He is not up to Lamar, or Kyler M. level but he is up there.

They don't have any control over him. He's free to sign wherever and rest assured he wants to start. Pitt sounds like they want to bring RW back, why would Fields come back if they're even entertaining it?

As for Fields and Grubb... seems like statue Geno doesn't fit the Grubb offense much either.
