Things I've heard surrounding UW players as we head into the season

Jordan Clay, a 6'3 freshman wideout out of Texas, may start day one for the Dawgs. Aside from a talented group of freshman and '25 breakout Desmond Roebuck, the Dawgs don't have much going on at the position. Junior Rashid Williams and senior transfer Christian Moss are likely to figure in the starting mix, but Williams didn't do much his first few seasons and Moss, despite high physical upside, was largely mediocre for Kennesaw State before transferring. Enter Clay, a 247 top-100 recruit, who could be the next in line of elite wide receivers for the Dawgs. He's a physically dominant wideout who could look a lot like Denzel Boston off the rip. He's been very impressive at practice and was elevated to starting with the 1's back in Spring ball.

Mason James, another freshman wide receiver out of Oklahoma, also figures to see playing time right away. He's going to be a twitchy gadget type burner that they'll use in the flat game and on vertical routes. He was a track star in Oklahoma, running 10.8 100's.

Despite former Oregon RB transfer Jayden Limar and top-recruit Brian Bonner joining the fold, redshirt freshman Quaid Carr has been the talk of camp. Carr was only a 3-star recruit, despite being a total stud at power house Servite in the LA area. But like Jonah Coleman was 3rd in line before getting his chance in '23 at Arizona under Fisch, Carr has been given similar accolades and there's been plenty of talk surrounding him being the potential starter as things unfold. The Dawgs have a lot of talent at RB with senior Troy transfer Trey Cooley running well at camp and '25 standout burner Jordan Washington currently banged up but getting healthy. It will be interesting to see who gets the touches.

Local 4-star freshman Derek Coleman Brusa is expected to start right away for the Dawgs at defensive tackle. Kid is a physical specimen at 6'5 295 lbs as he carries the weight really well. I've also watched a few interviews of the kid and he's very, very mature for his age. He plays with his hair on fire through the whistle and is said to already have a very refined game.

Russell Davis III, who missed half of '24 and all of '25 with an injury, is back and healthy. He played in 3 games in '24 and had a breakout game against UCLA where he had 3 sacks. He's expected to be sort of a rotation edge rusher than can give a defense that struggled last year converting sacks a boost in this department. Freshman Ramzeck Fruean is may also factor in here... he's a freak athlete at 6'5 245 and is said to be generating a ton of pressure in practice.
