Yeah i think MK forgot Texas is in the SEC now.
I did! Shit.
How could you? They are the only school that has switched conferences since we were kids. lol

I would be a good contest to try to come up with what the power 6 conferences consisted of in about 1980

Big 10
Big 8
SWC
SEC
ACC
Pac 10

Reminder that the P12 was not the first Power conference to implode. SWC was just about as prestigious in the 50s-80s
Texas just switched to the SEC in 2024. So in all reality, they are doing this with their Big12 athletes.

Edit:
So this has nothing to do with the quality of the SEC.

The thing that pisses me off the most is that The Pac 12 had a chance to add Texas and Oklahoma about 10 years ago and the dim wit short sighted presidents vetoed it because of academic standards or some such nonsense.

If the Pac had made the first move and grabbed those two schools and then possibly added Boise State and BYU they would have been the big power conference calling the shots insetead of being busted up and begging the other conferences to take them.

What about the Big East with Miami back in the 80's?

The Longhorn Network prevented Texas from joining, if I recall correctly - but you are correct - that would've made the conference powerful AF. I think OK State and Tech were also rumored - it would've made it the PAC-16. The TV deal Texas had - obviously quite favorable to them - prevented it from happening and it prevented other moves - at that time. There would be a conflict on who owned the broadcast rights - and either Texas would not give up that gold mine or the PAC-12 folks could not make a deal. Their incompetence is legendary.

I wonder how USC and UCLA feel now about tearing apart the Pac-12. Both finished in the bottom half of their new conference and even though USC is shown as #10 just ahead of Washington, We beat them. Had they not broken up the Pac-12, they likely would have finished behind at least 7 teams. As much as I don't like Whoregon, I think USC and UCLA have replaced the Zeros as my most hated teams.
Get a hold of yourself and sober up!!!!
Not placing the 'alpha-hate' on the Zero's would never happen in my household.
Yeah that is insane. I hate the Ducks worse than death.

He has a point though. I find it ridiculous how much hate is directed at Washington about the Pac 12 folding. The Conference was done in by idiot Presidents that passed on a very good TV offer from ESPN. One that the Big 12 soon swooped in and accepted. But? Even after that? USC and UCLA left, and even Colorado left before OU and UW.
Hate in rivalries doesn't have much to do with decisions made in ivory towers for me. It is about hate for the opposing fan base, team and coaches.
