Man, I miss it some time. Especially this year since they cancelled HS sports so I couldn't coach. But I am just so damn broken now, I can't run. The thought of Catching and EHing and not getting to play the OF? Had several teams approach me to play some lower level...my team got bumped to C, no way I want to play C anymore. Anyway, the guy says "Dude, comeon....I need an OFer and a good stick." I said, "I'm probably not either anymore!"DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 19, 2020 12:26 amI couldn't even BEGIN to guess. I know that in the last four years I've played in 39 tournaments (way too few) and have 581 hits (out of 740 at-bats). In my 30s I played 25-35 tournaments per year and in my 40s it was about 15 per year. That doesn't include league play. I'm just going to guess 10,000 LOL.

When I met my wife she drink Absolut vodka and I said we'd drink way too much vodka to be purchasing that premium vodka. So we switch the gut-rot bottom shelf and a couple years ago I calculated I save this about $27,000 over the past 15 years. The math is pretty easy if you break it down

It would be neat if you played seniors. At Nationals this year in the 50s we had two Seattle teams, WA Legends and Easton Reds. They had four Seattle teams in the 40s, WA Legends 40, Smash It Sports and a couple other teams, maybe you know them.Michael K. wrote: ↑Thu Nov 19, 2020 12:37 amMan, I miss it some time. Re: Huskies vs Oregoon State game thread
I've been asked. I might finally cave. The local Senior League has lost so many players it is no longer 50 and over. I believe at 47 you can play. Many of the umpires that work the HS games I coach play. They had been after me to come out since I was like 44! HaHa...by the end they were just doing it to piss me off, to make me think they didn't know I was too young! I'm not sure how long you have played, but I ran into one of the guys from the old Dovex team last weekend. Dovex won C Worlds back the mid 90s. He was playing a lot of travel Senior ball, but it was just him and one other guy from that team. In my area there are like two really good teams, and those teams have the late 40s and early 50s guys on the team, but I don't think many of them travel anymore.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 19, 2020 3:31 amIt would be neat if you played seniors. I've heard there are some pretty cool Senior Tourneys in Reno and Vegas. Based on the WIAA moving the HS seasons back again, I may actually start thinking about it. My wife would probably freak the eff out though! She was pretty excited when I hung it up.
I have definitely heard of Smash It Sports and Legends. Hell, those are probably mostly guys I used to play against that now play Seniors!

Re: Huskies vs Oregoon State game thread
I've played against some of those guys on occasion. There are a lot of 40s tournament teams now. Here's the bracket from when my 40 team won National Championships (Magic Sports Unforgiven): https://seniorsoftball.com/redirect.php ... -10-40.pdf, only ten teams and it was strictly Major Division. In 2019 there were 61 teams in the Major Division and another 18 teams in the Major Plus Division. So you definitely can hook up with someone, plus you get to hit with senior bats. Seriously, DO IT.Michael K. wrote: ↑Thu Nov 19, 2020 4:08 pmI've been asked. I might finally cave. The local Senior League has lost so many players it is no longer 50 and over. Re: Huskies vs Oregoon State game thread
Senior bats scare me. I was a top of the order guy usually, never tried to hit homers...was more of a gap to gap guy. Get on and let someone else drop bombs. That being said, I hit a TON of pitchers. Many times not on purpose. I will admit, I did it on purpose several times, but never for a bad reason! With a Senior bat? How do the pitchers not die?

I don't envy them at all. We've got a code where we try not to go middle but a number of guys do anyway. Once in a great while I do it but I yell an expletive as the ball comes off the bat so everyone knows it was an accident. Case in point at at 1:16:45 mark:

Yikes....yeah, I've done some bad shit that wasn't on purpose. Broke a shin back in the freaking 90s when the bats weren't even hot...but the balls were like rocks. Hitting a blue dot was like hitting a golf ball sometimes, and this was in Everett, so it was colder.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 20, 2020 6:15 amI don't envy them at all. Hit a woman in a Co Ed game one time...freaking just walked off the field and let them throw me out. I was playing with my parents. As she was warming up I told my dad I didn't want to play. He was like, you won't hit her, and I asked him if he thought I was trying to hit him when I did in BP! I was in my early 20s, still didn't have much bat control.
It gets worse...I was playing SS because it was Co Ed...and the woman I hit finally stopped crying and was in the dugout. First ground ball goes to me and I zip it to first...it is right at the damn woman playing first base, but she never moves her freaking glove. It goes right between her damn ear and the glove and heads straight towards the dugout. The woman I had hit in the stomach with a line drive is filling up her water, back to the field...and the throw hits her square in the freaking back! I walked out into LF and told the guy out there to go play short. He's like "I've never played SS!" I said, either you play SS or your playing with 9 because I'm driving home!

Re: Huskies vs Oregoon State game thread
I had my own co-ed game misadventure over 20 years ago. I fielded a base hit in left field and made just a beautiful throw to the plate, I mean just perfect. Normally our pitcher would cover home because the little waif we had catching was not the least bit athletically inclined. Unfortunately, he just stood there thinking of who he liked better between Velma and Daphne while this poor girl stood there with her arms outstretched like that guy in the Bugs Bunny baseball game I GOT IT I GOT IT I GOT ITMichael K. wrote: ↑Fri Nov 20, 2020 9:32 pmYikes....yeah, I've done some bad shit that wasn't on purpose. POW right in the eye. And there she is laid out at home plate, possibly dead, and some stupid fucking bitch in their dugout yells to the other runners "RUN! RUN! RUN!'
Thankfully she got up and shook it off, but the next weekend at her wedding she was sporting this big ol' shiner. AWKWARD
