Did anybody know that the Huskies flew town to Texas for a "secret scrimmage" on Sunday? I didn't know...………………...

If preseason “secret scrimmages” provide any indication, the TCU men’s basketball team should be in for a successful season.
The Frogs prevailed with a 61-58 victory over Washington on Sunday in Fort Worth, going 2-0 in preseason scrimmages. TCU defeated Mississippi State earlier this month in New Orleans.
Sunday saw senior guard Desmond Bane take over with a game-high 26 points, including five 3-pointers. Freshman Diante Smith scored 11 points off the bench, while sophomore center Kevin Samuel had nine points and seven rebounds.
Bane, Samuel, UTA transfer Edric Dennis, George Mason transfer Jaire Grayer and sophomore RJ Nembhard started for the Frogs. Along with the starters, freshmen Smith, Francisco Farabello and PJ Fuller saw extended time off the bench.
It appears that will be Jamie Dixon’s eight-man rotation to start the season.
TCU finished the game shooting 37.3 percent from the field (19-of-51) and 28.6 percent from 3-point range (8-of-28).
Bane had the best day going 8-of-18 from the field, including 5-of-13 from long range. He also made five of six free throw attempts.
The Frogs’ defense played well, too, with 13 steals and five blocks on the day. Fuller had a team-high five steals, and Samuel finished with four blocks.
But it wasn’t all perfect for TCU. The Frogs led by as many as 11 in the first half, but were trailing 29-28 at halftime.
Washington, though, never led by more than four points.
The Huskies, an NCAA Tournament team last season, were led by junior guard Nahziah Carter who had 20 points. Standout freshman forward Isaiah Stewart, a projected first-round NBA talent, posted a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

I guess if I read that newspaper our old forums used to be on I would have seen a Percy article on it.

The Washington men’s basketball team traveled to Texas Christian on Sunday for a private preseason scrimmage and came away with a 61-58 defeat that potentially signals early offensive struggles for a team replacing five of its top six scorers.
Junior guard Nahziah Carter led UW with 20 points while freshman forward Isaiah Stewart finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
The Huskies played without prized freshman forward Jaden McDaniels, who sat out for undetermined reasons.
Additionally, Washington’s starting lineup didn’t include sophomore point guard Quade Green, who is awaiting a decision from the NCAA on his eligibility petition.
Sophomore Elijah Hardy, who finished with five assists and five rebounds, started in place of Green. Sophomore guard Jamal Bey (9 points and 5 rebounds) and senior forward Sam Timmins were the other starters.
The Huskies fell behind by 11 points in the first half but took a 29-28 lead at halftime.
Washington held TCU to 37.3% shooting from the field (19 of 51) and 28.6% from three-point range (8 of 28).
However, the Huskies had difficulty slowing down Desmond Bane, the leading returning scorer in the Big 12. The 6-foot-6 senior guard finished with a game-high 26 points, including five three-pointers.
Former Garfield High star PJ Fuller, a TCU freshman guard, had a team-high five steals for the Horned Frogs, who finished with 13 thefts.
The Horned Frogs, who finished 23-14 last season and advanced to the NIT semifinals, were picked to finish last in the Big 12 preseason coaches poll.
Washington hosts Western Washington in a 7 p.m. exhibition Thursday at Alaska Airlines Arena.
The Huskies open the regular season Nov. 8 against Baylor in the Armed Forces Classic at Anchorage, Alaska.

Re: Game tonight
Damn! I nailed the double up prediction at the half.
Jaden McDaniels ends the first half with a steal and a coast-to-coast slam dunk for UW Huskies, which goes into halftime up 46-23.

Looks like Isiah Stewart and Jaden McDaniels are done. Stewart finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while McDaniels had 13 points and eight rebounds. UW leads 77-48 with 5:24 left.

Re: Game tonight
Read this the other night in the paper and almost couldn't go to sleep. I understand it was a scrimmage, but was it not also a scrimmage for TCU? We may have some growing pains....which scares me because we aren't one of those teams that can get away with no quality NC wins and still get a favorable seed in March, or any seed. The Horned Frogs, who finished 23-14 last season and advanced to the NIT semifinals, were picked to finish last in the Big 12 preseason coaches poll.
The Conference is going to be stronger this year, it would seem. We are starting out outside the Top 25. Beating only the teams we are supposed to before Conference will not do. Losing to someone like TCU would be disastrous!

No worries. We are back on track. We just beat probably the best team in Bellingham!Michael K. wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2019 5:59 pmRead this the other night in the paper and almost couldn't go to sleep. Re: Game tonight
Seriously though, I would put about the same weight in that TCU scrimmage as I would an M's ST game in February.

Re: Game tonight
I get what you are saying, but unless we were playing spots 7 through 12 on our bench against their starters, I would like to believe we have more talent on our team than a team projected to finish dead last in the Big 12.
Re: Game tonight
We will see how we stack up vs. the big 12 when we play #16 Baylor a week from tonight.
