How is it even possible that this portal thing opens before all the bowls and playoffs are over?
A team going to a bowl can lose their starting QB and their HC before their bowl?

Is there anything preventing, for example, Georgia promising to pay the Ducks starting QB 10 million
if he enters the portal so the Ducks have to use their backup for the playoffs?

Is there anything preventing Elon Musk from paying the entire coaching staff at Georgia 5 gadzilion dollars
to move to Alabama, thus having Georgia go into the playoffs without coaches?

I understand it's about the money and the players were getting fucked. I can even see the change in that respect,
but the way it is now is unbelievable. The NFL rules are way more responsible and I thought they were corrupt.

The problem, IMO, is they are all Free Agents all the time. Set a cap on how much each team can have spent, and then make these kids sign contracts. You want to get paid? Fulfill your contract. Leave? You can't sign elsewhere and you no longer get paid.

The fact that the NCAA didn't see the his becoming a problem is no surprise though. The NCAA is an absolute joke show.

I would also like to see the team that is 'after' the athlete have to pay a finders fee to the school that currently has them.

If it's a $1,000,000 quarter back, the buyout should be $500,000.
Then everyone will know how much they want them.

And if the athlete sits out 1 year, the buyout fees are less.

Mike Salk today was saying no real Coug fan could be mad at Dickert for taking the Wake Forrest Gump job.

I don't speak for all Coug fans, but my take is this:
I don't blame Dickert for leaving for a job he thinks is more stable or more opportunity etc., but I am damn
sure pissed off he is leaving his team before their toilet bowl. That is unforgivable IMO. If Dickert was a real man,
he would have stayed until the bowl game was over, coached up and supported the poor baby Cougs about to
get slaughtered and taken it like a man. You can not convince me a coach like Dickert couldn't insist on this as
a term of his new job when the Husky coach can go until the end of January and still land the number one
coaching job in the country. It's just pathetic.

Bump (WSU), and Stacy (UW) talk about the portal and jumping to schools with money. Jake Dickert went to Wake Forest University. less than 9K students. Their stadium is even smaller than Pullman's. But the QB turned down a million in NIL $ for next year to leave. Look at all these bowl games that lost out. Why would you travel to see a game in San Diego with no QB, No O.C. no H.C., etc, etc. That timing is garbage because the playoffs and most of the bowl games occur after transfers are gone.

They talked about rich Alums getting behind these programs and WSU's Paul Allen was really into football. If he was alive today, I could have seen him stepping up and funding the push to build a big bad brand here in the West.

It will never be possible to regulate fairness like is done in the NFL, but what's going on now is retarded.
Joel Klatt on the Brock and Salk show was thinking they have to condense the college season down to end much
sooner (they could start earlier) so it coincides better with the college semesters. The semesters it seems is the
current excuse on why the portal must open way before the bowl games and playoffs.

The college seasons seem to start earlier and earlier these days. Look how many cupcake games the big teams get
against small programs. Literally do away with that bull shit and go strait to the conference games. No bye weeks.
