Two of the guys Ron "Lighten Up" Francis let go after the playoff run in year two. This season Geekie has 26 goals, Donato has 25 goals, and the top goal-scorers on the Kraken (Schwartz and Tolvanen) have only 21.

Donato is a big surprise, but Geekie looked like he would reach this level. Why Francis let a good young player who was still cheap go is just baffling. The man is a complete clown as a GM. Eight seasons in Carolina and Seattle and one playoff appearance in a league where half the teams make the playoffs. When the hell are they going to fire this guy.

How many times have we seen a former player become a coach or exec, and they're just no good at it? Most of them.

I'm trying to think who the worst GM was that was a great player. Probably Isiah Thomas?

You're probably right. Kevin McHale was also pretty awful.

And although Mike Milbury wasn't a 'great' NHL player, he sure was an awful GM in New York.
