This underwhelming offseason

The organization has signed Mason Marchment who's a pretty good player, Frederick Gaudreau who's a decent player, Ryan Lindgren who's a decent player, and Matt Murray who might be the backup goaltender.
On paper the team should improve on its 35-47 record from last season, and combined with continued growth from Matty Beniers (who frankly, might have already peaked), Shane Wright, Kappo Kaako and Ryker Evans (not inlcluding Tye Kartye on this list), this should get the team to at least .500 with a shot at the playoffs.
But that's really about it. The organization needed to find some star power and they didn't. Again. Meanwhile, Vegas looked at its second-round playoff exit, said nope that's not gonna cut it, and went out and got Mitch Marner. Vegas goes all-in every season, and it works almost as well as one could hope for. Meanwhile, the Kraken are trying to build through the draft and a bunch of second- and third-line players, with the occasional bad free-agent signing.
The game can be pretty random, so maybe they'll surprise people and duplicate their second-season success. Otherwise, it doesn't seem like they'll be contenders any time soon.

Plenty of folks are saying Marchment could be the top winger we need. In Dallas, there were lots of others around him. I think he will be able to more here. I am thinking he might be an 80pt type guy

That would be great if he is, it stinks that 60 usually is enough to lead the team in scoring and we really need to have that one guy. Jason Robertson's name has been bounced around, be nice if we could add another top Stars' player.
Presumably they'll put Marchment on the top line with Beniers and McCann, although McCann apparently is trade bait.

I think Kappo will be on the top line. Where did you hear about McCann?
Just a couple things I read. His trade value is still very high, although I thought they were going to use their draft picks in trade for established players.

The Kraken have generally sold out every game at Climate Pledge Arena, which has a capacity of 17,151 for hockey games.

The nature of sports today makes it very hard to NOT sell out hockey and basketball games, and to a lesser degree football and baseball. I remember going to Mariner games as a kid where less than 5K were in the stands. That's unimaginable now.

I'm going to the Mariners game tonight in Anaheim. The Angel franchise has totally sucked for several years now, yet they'll probably still draw 25-30K tonight. By comparison, the 1975 Angels drew barely a million fans, an average of about 12K per game.
Wow, I just went back 50 years at random and that Angel team had a starting rotation of Nolan Ryan, Frank Tanana, Ed Figueroa and Bill Singer yet won only 72 games. Hitting only 55 home runs was probably a major cause of that, that might have been the weakest offense in modern baseball history.

ESPN Power Rankings presently has the Kraken at 28th, fifth worst in the league. The team should be better than that at least, maybe up close to 20th.
