That tiered point system is quite intriguing, pretty cool to be able to score nine points on one score.

Definitely. A lot of strategy for sure.

What a coincidence. I always smoke a pipe while playing hoops at LA fitness. :)

I wonder if this is why the NFL is having the Pro Bowl try out having a 4th and 15 after a score instead of onside kicks?

The new rule I came up with is the 28-0 automatic win. If you can score 28 points before your opponent scores any points, then it's automatic game over. So, if you've got the ball and you're up 20-0, then you could kick a FG, or you could try to score and go for 2 and end the game.

Although the Seahawks recovered a legendary onsides kick against Green Bay, I've always thought the whole concept was a little contrived. The game is already set up for the comeback given that at some point a team that's trailing can start using all 4 downs. Do we really need the "score and retain possession" rule? Do you really like having that sliver of a hope as a fan? I find it kind of frustrating... I can't turn the TV off, because technically the Hawks are still "in it", but they'll need to score and then recover an onside? Percentage chance might be 5%??? I might rather just have 0%, so I'm not strung along watching a loss. It's just as bad when the Hawks are up by 1 but the other team has the ball in FG range for a game winner and I can't turn the TV off, because the dude might miss the game winner. (happened twice in 2019 season, holy ship!). It's an interesting concept and very unique to football. In other sports, there's nothing really analogous to suddenly being able to use more downs on offense or having a last effort rule like the onsides kick. It would be like in baseball if you suddenly got 4 outs or they had a rule where you could start the inning with 2 outs and 2 strikes, but if you reach base, then you get a 6 out inning. Or in basketball during the last minute all shots from beyond half court are worth 10. I guess one thing that is similar with baseball is technically you do kind of have to watch the whole damn thing, cuz just like recovering an onside there's the freak chance of the 6 run bottom of the 9th.

Watch the Huskies play basketball. The other team could get a half point for each made bucket and they could still blow a double digit lead late.
