The latest defeat of the natural gas initiative is classic political monopoly.

I really hate the idea that there are "Democratic judges" and "Republican judges", but it seems that that ship has sailed a long time ago.

But the judge did not rule on whether there should be a ban on natural gas in homes; she ruled on the "technicality" that the initiative contained more than one subject.

I voted for the initiative and (assuming that the ruling is not overturned on appeal) I hope that the organizers can put together a clean (i.e., single issue) initiative that can pass again.

I thought the Democrats were the ones that decided on the wording in the initiatives since they control the legislature and whatever office is responsible for making the ballots.

Good point. Maybe when you gather sufficient signatures to put an initiative on the ballot, it just is posted based upon the language that people who signed were looking at. But I don't think this is the first time a "single issue" challenge to an initiative has come up. It seems wasteful to have people spend time and money working for (and against) and initiate that is going to be struck down because it has a fatal flaw.

The way former governor Inslee put it, the initiative was so broad, people had no idea what they were voting for. He was warming the crowd for the judges decision. The greenies had their field day.

But hey, its Washington State.

A choice line from official commentary was the Initiative went against "Washington State Climate Goals". "climate goals" ???
CG's are newspeak for utopia. CG's are regulatory death on the installment plan.
