Midterm election poll
Midterm election poll
I know some people don't think elections matter, but just humor me on this one.

Re: Midterm election poll
LOL you read my mind and I haven't really been following things, but because we're such fickle people who every two to four years decide that the grass is greener on the other side, I wouldn't be surprised if the Dems flipped both the House and Senate. Many liberals will then jump up and down like their favorite team just won the WBNA title, celebrating their newly elected politicians who they believe will be sliding down their chimneys to save them, just like GOPs would if it were the other way around.
Instead, the next two years would just be a lot of pissing and moaning back and forth between Trump and Congress with zero effect on our lives. It's not going to make the economy any better and thankfully for now it won't open the floodgates for illegal aliens to pour in unchallenged.
Four years from now, whoever the President is, we'll probably do the same thing. Lather/rinse/repeat.

I think Democrats win pretty easily and the country's done for.
Trump sold us out to lsraeI, told his voters he didn't want their support if they wanted the Epstein files released, then started a war he promised to keep us out of.
So, the people like me who voted for him three times, then watched him sell out aren't going to bother showing up to vote.

I'm reasonably sure that the Democrats will win the House, and I'll guess a 20 seat margin. I see this largely as a negative reaction to Trump's record. I think what you said is interesting, bpj, about "Trump voters" staying home. Obviously that helps Democrats.
Not so sure about the Senate, but I'll go with 50 seats for Democrats - that is essentially the Republicans holding on to control of the Senate, because with 50 seats controlled by each party, the Vice President can pass the tie breaking vote.
It seems to me that a lot of things have to go well for democrats to get a Senate majority. They need to pick up at least 4 seats to get to 51. I am pretty sure they will flip North Carolina. But every other opportunity to gain a seat seems like it will be a really close election: Maine, Ohio, Iowa, Texas, maybe even Kansas. And the Democrats stand a real chance of losing Michigan, where I saw a survey that said over 30 percent of voters there did not like the idea of voting for a Muslim. And I'm not sure that Fetterman (Pennsylvania) stays a democrat.

Re: Midterm election poll
The house is a given for Dems.
The senate would be great but I'm more focused on Texas.
Republicans need Texas. It is their California. They lose that seat and it's a sign of a rejection of MAGA that this country desperately needs. It also signals:
1. Texas has the voting population to go blue. Something I never thought I'd see in my lifetime moving forward.
2. Texas has enough voters who actually care about not voting in a corrupt piece of shit. Paxton is probably the 2nd most corrupt politician to Trump in the country.
3. The MAGA trans propaganda no longer works. People, even in deeply red areas, are waking up and realizing these fake culture issues they've been fed over and over by MAGA do not actually impact their lives.

If the Democrats win Texas, I'm sure there will be lots of discussion about whether it was [1] a rejection of MAGA or [2] a rejection of a remarkably bad candidate in Paxton. What do you think?
My sense is that if Cornyn had won the Republican primary, instead of Paxton, Talarico would be trailing in the polls by a few percentage points.
