Now I have two friends who will never vote for Trump because he's a "bad person." My mission is to point out to them that they shouldn't vote for any Dim (Biden, Newsom, or Harris) because they have put us in the position we are in right now but realizing I live in Washington where everyone colors in the "D" button just because.

Do people actually vote because of personality rather than accomplishments? Is this next Presidential Election a Middle School Class President election?

What is it that you tell them in terms of the position?

It's true. I have a friend who despises Trump. And when I point out what a nightmare Biden is, he can't see it. The idea being that Trump is an outspoken ass and Biden is a 'nice, old man'.

To me, there are basic 3 categories of voters... informed voters (not many of those). The second group votes for someone because they 'like' them. And the 3rd category? They simply vote for the other guy because they despise the alternative (knowing full well that the choice they've made also sucks, but that it sucks less).

That said, I don't think many people vote objectively. Most votes are emotionally charged on some level. People can't separate emotion from logic.

Have him watch my Gold Star video. He will probably just say Trump would have done the same though.

I think good things have happened under the Biden presidency. I think support for Ukraine and corralling support from NATO members is hugely important, and I give credit to Biden for this.

Regarding domestic accomplishments, I'm less sure that his role was as central (for example, many people would give Congress credit). But at least on Biden's watch, we have Infrastructure, CHIPS, and the horribly named Inflation Reduction Act. I consider these all good things.

By the way, I don't particularly "like" Biden. But I'll definitely vote for him (again) over Trump. It's because of policies and accomplishments.

Why do you think the support for Ukraine is important?

Gil,
Just when I was starting to see some common ground.

You are a real head-slapper.

I think good things have happened under the Biden presidency.
Really?

I cannot think of one thing.
I think support for Ukraine
With his history in Ukrane, I'd like to know how much of a kickback he and the Biden family is getting.
corralling support from NATO members is hugely important
I assume you mean for Ukraine since it was in the same sentence.
What support did NATO provide? In general Europe has provided pennies on the dollar that we have and it's gotten the world nowhere. I call this a waste of american dollars....so once again, Europe has taken advantage of the USA. So I'll ask again, how much of a kickback is the Biden Family getting?
on Biden's watch, we have Infrastructure
Please expand on this. OR is this another way for him to route tax dollars to his pet projects that mostly help the Biden Family?
horribly named Inflation Reduction Act
And why did they call it that?

Is it because so many people that are so ignorant actually believed it was going to help reduce Inflation? I call this another lie to fool the ignorant American public.

I don't!!!

I consider this a bunch of needless spending; especially when you take into account our economy was already reeling from the Covid close-down that the democrats forced to last as long as possible.

Every President will want to have a major spending bill, but he should have waited until our economy had recovered some. But it was all important to get as much spending done as soon as possible because we may not own congress for long.
By the way, I don't particularly "like" Biden. But I'll definitely vote for him (again) over Trump. It's because of policies and accomplishments.
And this is were your true colors show as a true leftist liberal hack.

Trump had better policies to make the American economy buzz. Biden has done nothing but hold it back and force some implosions.

"True leftist liberal hack?" Maybe you'd like to meet some REAL leftists. Just because I'm one of the majority of voters who went with Biden in 2020 doesn't earn me that label. (I assume it wasn't a compliment, right? ;) )

I don't disagree with much of what you said, but I think we have different conclusions.

Actually, I think the Infrastructure and CHIPS acts are things that are consistent with what former President Trump said he was going to do. Invest in American infrastructure and get critical manufacturing capabilities back in America (and out of China). I supported Trump's intention to do this (although "infrastructure week" never quite materialized) and I support the enactment of these under Biden's watch.

Yes, I think the label "inflation reduction act" was basically marketing/promotion. Sort of like the tax cuts under Trump being labeled the "tax cuts AND JOBS" act.

But the one part of "The inflation reduction act" definitely designed to reduce costs is Medicare being able to negotiate prescription drug prices. I think the first set of drugs subject to this was announced this week.

I meant Biden lining up NATO support for Ukraine. Obviously many NATO members (the majority I think) are not meeting there spending targets.

And look: If Biden is financially benefiting from US defense spending on Ukraine and/or US domestic spending, he should be impeached and convicted. Period. But I'll wait for evidence.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply!
