What's so horrible about someone who voluntarily wears a mask? I understand why SOME people are upset to see an UNmasked person in a crowded indoors space. But why be upset seeing someone who chooses to wear a mask?
Why weren't people upset about unmasked people 3 years ago during flu season??? Its the exact same thing right now.
And I am not upset with them, I pity them....
I AM upset with people like Gavin Newsome and people that because they want to idiotically wear a mask they think EVERYONE else should HAVE to as well. Like the Beta Bitch that told me in a high pitched agitated voice to pull my mask up over my nose on my flight to Seattle and five minutes later was stuffing his fat face with pretzels and swilling a diet Coke maskless.
Sorry, but when I read things like "beta bitch" and "low IQ" I usually think the person is upset. Maybe it's just an East Coast thing.
That whole thing about "need to wear a mask except when eating or drinking" is ... well, it makes me shake my head every time. I've never read the logic of that, but I suppose the regulations recognize that there is benefit to having restaurants and bars open and to have people flying. And then masking as much as possible reduces the risk of exposure (because duration of exposure is a risk factor).
It's a good question about flu season. I've never had a flu shot and I never wore a mask for contagious diseases, pre-COVID. Sure, I tried to avoid being around people if I had any flu symptoms. But I also never remember anyone making fun of people who wore masks during flu seasons.
As to masking regulations, my guess is that COVID was seen as different from flu in being [1] a "novel" virus, so that none of us had any immunity, [2] being more contagious and more deadly, and [3] affecting many more people.
