4 years ago, there were Democrats and liberals who criticized everything that Trump did and didn't give him a chance. You know: sniping at everything and exaggerating what he was doing to emphasize the negatives. I had intense arguments with some of my left wing friends. Now, it seems to me that there are Republicans and conservatives who are doing the same thing with Biden. One side of the coin, meet the other. Unfortunately you share some unattractive qualities.
I just watched a blatant biased Trump smear job/Biden worshipping segment on CBS Sunday Morning including ONCE AGAIN the completely taken out of context "good people on both sides" quote. It is very clear the MSM isn't going to provide the truth so it is up to us to do it. I meticulously went through his executive orders on the Biden agenda thread and provided rationale explanations as to why nearly every one of them were severely flawed. None of our criticism's are based on shallow attacks against his personality as FOUR YEARS of Trump attacks were.
Feel free to share how you think Biden's initial actions and words will somehow make this country better other than the hallow "Unity" message..
I agree with some of your points in that post, regarding symbolism and virtue signaling (and aI appreciate your time to write it up and to be thoughtful about it). But the underlying thrust of engaging with the world? (our allies plus China and Russia) I don't see the problem with that. WHO and the Paris accord are far from perfect, but they will be better if American interests are expressed strongly and consistently.
Your comment on Biden not having a basis for addressing ethics: I think that is sniping as I referred to, for two reasons. #1 is that much of the "ethics problems" for Biden are allegations from the right wing media and as yet are unproven. Let's see how the investigation into Hunter Biden's affairs goes, to see if there is more there than in some other right-wing echo chamber stories (such as massive election fraud). No one is perfect, no politician is perfect, but I think it's a good thing to stress ethics, in word and in deed.
And oh yes, COVID. It is correlation rather than proven causation, but I bet that surges last fall and over the 2 holidays were related to re-opening and contact among people who had not taken common sense precautions. Anything we do to lower cases even a little bit is positive. It's a tough call regarding tradeoffs. I'd personally reopen schools but keep bars closed, but I understand people may have different priorities. But I'll definitely be glad that Biden is listening to Fauci rather than Scott Atlas.
