Tariffs?
Re: Tariffs?
Yes, and then the tariffs (taxes) are paid by the importers in the country of the government that imposed the tariff.

But please, look to see who the tariffs are affecting? The fucking lazy people that on Government programs...... or is that it. You hate the tariffs because it affects all consumers equally and NOT JUST THE "RICH?"

Re: Tariffs?
But, as I've posted before, the manufacturing company can lower their profit margin to cover the tariff or part of the tariff..... you want to deny this.
It's also an option for the government to cover part or all of the tariff.
But instead, you post shit like....... other countries don't tariff US products.

Re: Tariffs?
No I didn't say "other countries don't tariff US products". That is exactly what a tariff does: it adds a tax that is paid by a business in another country that wants to import a US product.Walla Walla Dawg II wrote: ↑Sun Jun 01, 2025 5:35 pmBut, as I've posted before, the manufacturing company can lower their profit margin to cover the tariff or part of the tariff..... you want to deny this.

What I say (I just looked it up) is "No other country "tariffs us"." - in response to what you reporter the guy in the video said. Meaning that these are taxes placed on commercial transactions, and the tariffs are paid by the importer, not the American exporter, and not Americans in general.
And yes, I believe you are correct: An exporter can lower its prices when it know that there is going to be a tariff charged overseas. This could be an American oil company exporting its products to China, or a Chinese electronics company exporting its projects to the U.S.
Re: Tariffs?
No. I disagree with tariffs because they create economic losses. They reduce total wealth for our country.Walla Walla Dawg II wrote: ↑Sun Jun 01, 2025 5:32 pmDude, we have gone over this so many times.

Well, at least you don't believe that they hinder the free trade system..... since there hasn't been free trade for decades.gil wrote: ↑Mon Jun 02, 2025 2:03 pmNo. I disagree with tariffs because they create economic losses. Scott Bessent just owns this interview on Face the Nation.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTK0fDt ... rt_radio=1
Gil, please listen to what he has to say at the 4:20 moment.
-basically 65% of the tariffs on China are being paid by the manufacturer-
And that would be 65% of the 10% that the tariff got raised.

I looked for the article he cited from the South China Morning Post and what I found -- https://www.scmp.com/economy/china-econ ... riff-costs -- says something different. It says that the US retail giants are attempting to negotiate with their Chinese suppliers/manufacturers to get to this number; that is, it's not a done deal.

You gotta believe the Chinese, they are, after all, known for their freedoms.
