"We're pointing at him, the police are down there running around on the ground, we're like 'Hey man, there's a guy on the roof with a rifle'... and the police did not know what was going on," he said. The witness estimated that he and others tried to draw attention to the gunman for three to four minutes before the shooting began

He may have missed Trump but he killed someone else and critically injured two others. That deserves sone attention

A sighted in AR at 140 yards.....I can hit a silver dollar [sized target] 20 out of 20 times.

I often shoot coyotes on my acreage at 350 yards or more with my AR.... often times they will be moving.

This kid was a nutcase with ZERO experience with weapons.
I will rescind this if it comes out that he was shooting with open sights.

That such an easy shot from that close range you could just point and shoot. That was divine intervention

Do either of you then have any theories as to why a rooftop in easy range was unsecured? It's even harder to understand such an "oversight" if it's true that people saw Crooks climbing a ladder up the side with a rifle slung over his shoulder and reported it.

Local police saw the shooter and one cop tried to hoist another cop up to the roof but the shooter pointed his gun at the cop so he dropped down. After he dropped, the shooter started shooting at President Trump.

Twenty-seven hours or so after the assassination attempt, and it is pretty clear a lid is in place over the release of information through official channels.

Beyond the release of the shooter's name, age and hometown, no federal agency spokesperson or the president himself has provided any information about this event or answered questions in front of an open press conference. All we hear is that security will not change for the RNC. Biden has appeared three times and in the televised earlier statement today with Kamala and his principals, actually turned and walked silently out of the room when queried by reporters.

Nothing from the Secret Service, the AG, the FBI, Mayorkas...a veil of secrecy is beginning to descend over how this happened. Instead, we get Joe Biden calling for Unity three times, not taking questions and finally tonight in the Oval Office, mentioning January 6 and the attack on Pelosi's husband. There is no doubt the feds know the shooter's background, affiliations and life history going back to the womb by now. And yet, the only thing reporters have found out is that he was a Registered Republican but gave $15 to a progressive organization a couple years ago. Oh, and he was a loner in high school.

This is starting to stink. There have been multiple failures that allowed a 20-year-old to climb on a roof a nine-iron chip shot away from Trump's brain, kill one person and wound three others, including the sitting president's chief political rival, whom he has called an existential threat to democracy.

Also, I especially like the fact that the Feds are claiming they can't open this shooter's phone yet. He must have blocked the NSA, CIA, FBI, every spook agency acronym, and put them on his spam call list.

Did the police or anyone else notify the security detail so that the snipers could take him out before he could fire multiple shots at Trump?

That is what is troubling. Why did they not secure this rooftop before the event started and why were they not aware of this guy being there?

Of course they aren't talking about it. There were obviously issues. Nobody is going to be allowed to go and start chatting about it. They are trying to figure out what the heck happened themselves

How did he get on the roof?
People pointed him out minutes before he first shot!!

Yup, you get kicked off of high school rifle squad in Bumfuck, PA for "having a bad shot." This guy never got laid while the other guys went hunting and never banged a cheerleader in his life.

I think this could be a John Hinckley/Jodie Foster thing, and this was an act of devotion to impress the cutest girl in high school, who might be his cousin or sister.
