LeBron James, Oppressed Black Man

“We are scared as Black people in America,” James said of the Jacob Blake shooting. “Black men, Black women, Black kids. We are, we are terrified.”
"We". Seriously, "we", as he sips a brandy while sitting in front of the fireplace in his forty-million dollar mansion. This guy's been coddled since he was in high school and his ability to relate to what's going on in black communities ceased to exist while the World Trade Center was still a thing. I guess maybe he fears that the one police officer in America that doesn't know who he is will pull him over in his Lamborghini and shoot him.
So this makes, what, two unarmed black people (one fatality) shot by police in the first eight months of 2020, plus one who died with an officer's knee on his neck (for the sake of argument let's say that was at least a contributing factor). Boy, the epidemic just CONTINUES. There have been as many unarmed black people killed by police in the US this year as there have been people in the US killed in the other epidemic we've had, that of shark attacks off our shores. 2-2 right now, who's going to break the tie? The cops? "Bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do..." Or the sharks? "DUH-NUH......DUH-NUH..."

There's always been something off about that guy.
My least favorite athlete alongside Kaepernick.

It goes hand in hand with the emergence of social media, people like James and many others are much more emboldened to believe that their stupid opinions are worth a lot more than they really are and even worse, that they're a lot smarter than they really are. A bad combination of narcissism and stupidity. Most of these people don't have the first damn clue what they're even talking about yet they talk away. Not to mention that to shout down the other side people frequently turn to hyperbole, even supposedly smart and well-educated politicians. It's just really irresponsible.
Not to mention that this makes James look like a hero to whoever agrees. He might believe the stupid crap that comes out of his mouth, or he could well just be saying what he thinks the "right" people want to hear before he goes back to sipping his brandy.

I agree, it's the danger of these people only being around people who agree with them.
They start living in an echo chamber where they can't even see they're the one that looks like an uneducated fool in reality.

I've already cancelled the NBA. If they moved to China I wouldn't care. Maybe I'll come back in a couple of years if they can this political crap!

I can't help but love hearing CANCELED now after the video the guy made recently doing brand canceling.
I've enjoyed watching players take ridiculous stances on social media to continue alienating half of their fanbase, now they can all reap what they sowed.
We all know the Chinese market will supplement the losses though.

Imagine someone approaching Michael Jordan about kneeling and BLM.
"Can kneeling help us win?"
"Um, no."
Can BLM help us win?"
"Um, no."
"Then fuck off. I'm here to win."

1/3 of Blacks and 1/3 of Hispanics polled by Zogby before the Republican Convention had a favorable opinion of Trump, who now holds a 52% favorable rating.

And now NBA teams are boycotting the playoffs over something that happened to this one man, the first of its kind since George Floyd (and no, the guy in Atlanta who took the cop's stun gun doesn't count). You get the feeling that if absolutely nothing like this happened for a year and then it did, they'd start screaming again about how this happens all the time. How stupid can you be?
I guess it's just the culture of fear in the weak-minded of the world. 9/11 happens and a lot of people are scared to fly because THEIR flight might get hijacked (even though that became obsolete that day) or bombed. Neither of course has happened in the 19 years since. Every now and then a school shooting happens and a lot of people get scared that THEIR kid is going to get killed at school by some emo in a trench coat...which is true if your kid can buck six-figure-to-one-odds. And of course a few unarmed black people get shot and/or killed by cops and in a nation that has almost 50 million black people, a lot of black people are scared that THEY are going to get pulled out of their vehicle and murdered by cops. NBA and NFL players say that they have this fear, even though exactly zero NBA and NFL players have ever had this happen to them.
So eleven unarmed black people have been killed by cops in this country over the last 20 months, or as they call that in Chicago, "Saturday".
Yet not a peep from BLM or LeBron James or anyone about what they really need to fear, young black men who kill each other over stupid shit.
