Like I said before, the deal with the mariners seems to me is the amount of different players they run through the DH. Towards the beginning of season they had already used a dozen different players. I think most teams use multiple players at dh these days, but I don't know if another team handles it the way the mariners do

Offseason plan

#1 - Sign Bogaerts

#2 - Sign DeGrom, trade pitching depth for OF bat (possibly Reynolds)

Tell me that's not doable. Why not kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

You diminish Reynolds value moving him to a corner, assuming that's what you would do. Does his bat play there?

Frazier has a .836 OPS in Pittsburgh last season. Reynolds has a .778 OPS in Pittsburgh this season.

Reynolds has a .697 Home OPS and .852 on the road. Nothing makes sense.

Taking a look at Julio's contract extension and the rest of the Mariners contracts. Who could be next in line for a payday, does the club retain Haniger into 23, does Castillo get extended, Raleigh, Gilbert? What to do with JP Crawford and middle infield? Dh? https://dtrainanddion.podbean.com/e/mar ... d-be-next/

Good podcast fellas.
Mariners could raise their payroll real fast just signing their own players!
For me Castillo is the prize hog. Got to sign him.
Maybe have to extend Sewald?

Possibly they could then sign some of these bats like France or Raleigh to performance-based contracts too?
Then you've wrapped up catcher and first base with young productive players.
Geno is your 3rd baseman. He does what he does regardless of the strikeouts.
Have to upgrade that 2nd base situation too somehow. With Frazier gone and JP signed. We need a free agent or trade.
Outfield? Julio = check. Haniger = TBD. Winker? = He's signed and on the team but we need another outfield bat imho especially if Mitch leaves.

JD going to earn his paycheck this offseason for sure.

Every team has a player in the final year of a contract or arbitration and with Mitch it could be over the top motivation to carry the team. If Mitch turns into Crazyhorse look out

Hope so but after a great couple weeks after he was activated he hasn't been very productive....
