If Jerry does this to us....I'll schedule a root canal and a colonoscopy same day. And I don't need either!D-train wrote: ↑Mon Dec 05, 2022 6:29 pmRight in the middle of the Winter meeting with two gaping holes at DH and LF and this is our rumor of the day. Projectile vomit inducing:

Re: Finally! Official Hot Stove League Thread
Weird hypothetical I've had running through my head assuming the M's make no more significant moves:
If I were a billionaire I'd take out a full-page ad in the Seattle Times for every news paper until the start of season imploring people to not attend until the M's payroll is increased to north of $200 million. I would hire people to stand outside of T-Mobile and offer to purchase their tickets at double the value to discourage fan attendance. I would give them megaphones and have them shout all the truths about how the Mariners are a cheapskate franchise that doesn't deserve local fandom. I'd put out ads for boycotting the Mariners on billboards, taxis, ubers... anywhere I can get the word out. Fuck, I'd buy an ad on ROOT sports that plays during every major sporting event the network plays in the off season.
How on earth can Jerry be so fucking tone def and be talking about 2026 when the Phillies have multiple enormous contracts, just made the WS, and signed Trea Turner to 11 $300 million???
I usually think this dude is a dweeb, but this seems accurate:

One thing thats becoming clear is there won't be any more Cano type contracts in Seattle.
My guess is Dipoto's aversion to expensive, long term contracts is a match made in heaven for the tightwad Mariners group.
They want to win with the lowest payroll possible, not by opening their wallets like the other guys do.
