This would be an epic mind fuck for Jerry. He despises full time DHs but the narcissistic freak may like him because he has the same initials. JD.

Based on what we haven't done....it's not a bad idea.
It's like signing a Nelson Cruz for me.
I'd still like to get an outfield bat like Conforto and Martinez.
If we bash first half we can always acquire another bat before the trade deadline.
We just need freakin offense this year.

This is what JD is projected to hit .262 .327 .448 .776
He is probably best left to DH only at this point 35 next year. And he was a really good hitter from 2014 to 2019. That is the type of player the lineup needs Last 2 years he went 128 OPS+ down to 117 last year. He just does not move the needle for me too much. He hits the ball hard but K's a lot and does not walk a bunch.

Wil Myers + either Michael Brantley or JD Martinez represent the best offensive upgrades at this point besides trading for Bryan Reynolds.
Add Brantley and Myers to the lineup and it looks much better than one that currently includes Kelenic in LF and Moore or Murphy at DH.

If I'm in the country I probably will make it, but I'm planning to do some extended international travel the first half of next year so we'll see. Need to do it before I'm too old to enjoy it.D-train wrote: ↑Thu Dec 08, 2022 10:55 pmSeriously. Hope you make it down. Sharing a bed with you and Lynda? Hmmm that sounds a little kinky.

Re: Finally! Official Hot Stove League Thread
What would you trade for Reynolds that would equal his value? Just curious. You've come up with decent trade packages before. I can't find anything on MLB Trade Values that makes any sense.bpj wrote: ↑Fri Dec 09, 2022 2:22 amWil Myers + either Michael Brantley or JD Martinez represent the best offensive upgrades at this point besides trading for Bryan Reynolds.

I would trade Gilbert or Kirby for him and sign a pitcher to replace them (Senga, probably).Sexymarinersfan wrote: ↑Fri Dec 09, 2022 3:23 amWhat would you trade for Reynolds that would equal his value? Bats are clearly more expensive and we're 10+ deep on starting pitchers before even adding one-
1) Castillo
2) Ray
3) Gilbert
4) Kirby
5) Flexen
6) Marco
7) Brash
8) Hancock
9) Dollard
10) Miller
11) Woo
...
You guys can say, "You can't trade a future ace!" all you want, but we just watched Brandon freakin' Nimmo sign for 8/$162M and Castillo extended at $110M.
Re: Finally! Official Hot Stove League Thread
Brandon Nimmo: .800 OPS / 134 wRC+ / 4.5 WAR
Bryan Reynolds: .806 OPS / 125 wRC+ / 2.9 WAR
Jarred Kelenic: .534 OPS / 55 wRC+ / -.1 WAR
Logan Gilbert: 3.20 ERA / 3.2 WAR
Jose Quintana: 2.93 ERA / 4.0 WAR
Nimmo signed for 6yrs/$182M
Quintana signed for 2yrs/$26M
It's becoming pretty clear what the Mariners need to be doing. Trading from their pitching depth for bats, and signing pitching.
