Might as well bring Justin Upton back at this point.

The cubs are rumored to be signing Eric Hosmer, which will probably make Patrick Wisdom lose some playing time.

JD should trade for Patrick Wisdom, maybe Diego Castillo and Sam Carlson. Then maybe go sign Chafin.

Chafin would cost money though.

Trade Marco later in the offseason. Trading Diego Castillo brings $2M of payroll relief.

Jesus so we released Wisdom in Aug. of 2020 and in 2021 he hit 28 bombs and had a .823 OPS. :(

So, you know all that money we are allegedly putting aside for Ohtani next year? Rumors are the Dodgers are scrimping and saving and avoiding giving long term deals because THEY want Ohtani. Do we think for a second that we can outbid the Dodgers?

https://www.yahoo.com/news/shohei-ohtan ... 28445.html

Editorial note: just saw posts speculating on the accuracy and legitimacy of The Sun...and CNN. Yahoo! News is likely in the mix as well - and the story I linked is from Yahoo! But even with raised eyebrows and a degree of speculation afforded news outlets like Sun, CNN, Fox and Yahoo!, I expect there is a kernel of truth in there somewhere. The %$@! Dodgers are likely going all in on Ohtani, and I, for one, expect we won't offer a $500M contract.

I think Dipoto is actually a decent judge of talent, just terrible at deploying it.

He's making the path to MLB too easy and giving these players their shot a year or two early instead of stashing the talent in the minors and filling the MLB team with adequate depth in free agency.

There have been a few players they've let go while keeping trash players like Dee Gordon amd Mallex Smith on the roster.

I don't think that's really DiPoto so much as it is the organization and the budget he's given, and I think that pattern is probably pretty similar across all of your mid-markets.

The Red Sox don't make sense. No idea what this team is doing.
