Re: Rumors about Geno extension
I trust Schneider's ability to find us our next QB. Whether we roll with Geno or not. I'm quite certain he's got a game plan this offseason. If we wind up taking one at #5 or in the 3rd round, I trust Pete and John to get the right guy(s) in our system.douche wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 7:19 pmFound this article:
Seahawks Urged to Use Chiefs’ ‘Template’ With Geno Smith, Future QB Plans
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith is set to be a free agent this offseason.
Everyone wants to be the Kansas City Chiefs. Given that the Chiefs have been to five straight conference championships and three of the last four Super Bowls, it’s not hard to figure out why.
The Seattle Seahawks may be a couple steps away from being the Chiefs, but Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer argued that with Geno Smith and their quarterback plans, the Seahawks could emulate the Chiefs in one way this offseason.
“The template for Geno with the Seahawks, as I see it, could very well be Alex Smith in Kansas City,” Breer wrote. “You pay Smith well. He’ll give you a great chance to compete and contend and build the roster up around him.
“And in the meantime, you’ll be on the lookout for any special opportunity that comes along.”
Seems pretty obvious. Almost certain that's what Schneider and Carroll are planning. Unless Geno chooses to test free agency.
And no, I don't think we are trading for Lamar Jackson.

Re: Rumors about Geno extension
So some journalist just made this up? I mean, I get it if teams were talking about it, but has there ever been a scenario like this that ever happened with this high of pick?Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Feb 03, 2023 4:20 pmhttps://www.google.com/amp/s/www.fieldg ... ree-wilson
The Denver 1st for Seattle's 2nd is about the only thing I can think of and that was 10 years ago.
I'm not saying I wouldn't do it, but the probability of it actually happening is about as sure as Seattle drafting a punter in the first round.
Re: Rumors about Geno extension
Only way a team would do that is if the they though the world was ending next Spring.
“Projected trade: No. 5 for Nos. 9, 93 and a 2024 first-round pick”

Re: Rumors about Geno extension
I don't know, this seems like a scenario that could play out. I very much think the Seahawks will trade back if their guy isn't there at 5 (which I think is highly likely). In fact, in that scenario, I wouldn't be surprised to see them trade back AGAIN to #13 or so, so instead of #5 and 20, they end up with 13 and 20 PLUS a 2nd, 3rd and a pick next year. There are a LOT of guys that would fill needs that should be available rounds 2-4, so don't be surprised to see JS/PC to try to add some.
The one thing people ignore is Pete's age. He must have a time table, and it's NOT 5 years from now. He may only have a couple more seasons in him, so trading out of this draft to bolster future drafts doesn't make much sense. The scenario proposed would be ADDING a pick next year, plus one this year, so that WOULD make sense.

How would you feel if you were a fan of the team that trades two firsts and a 93rd pick to move up four spots???SeattleAddict wrote: ↑Fri Feb 03, 2023 5:58 pmI don't know, this seems like a scenario that could play out. Re: Rumors about Geno extension
probably a lot like I felt when we drafted a RB named Christine with our first pick.
It is overpaying, IMO, but it depends who you get. If you get your franchise QB, then maybe it's worth it? I hope it breaks like the draft simulator does, and somebody trades us their #1 pick next year and the #9 to take Anthony Richardson, and we still somehow get Jalen Carter at 9 and the #1 overall next year, and we can laugh at them for decades to come.

Ugh, you said C Mike just to annoy me didn't you!? LOL. So much talent was available at the time, he and Mo Morris are a HUGE reason I have always been hesitant when we like a RB in the draft. Mo Fucking Morris was the bane of my existence for years. But yeah, who would have wanted Brian Westbrook in Holmgren's WCO, right? Fuck me. Would have allowed us to let Alexander walk and sign Hutch. That team wins a Super Bowl. Hell, with Westrbook and Alexander they beat the Steelers, IMO. Of course, the NFL wouldn't allow that to happen right? The Bus Farwell tour and all?SeattleAddict wrote: ↑Fri Feb 03, 2023 6:30 pm

Back on topic. Never feear, it seems we just trade for Lamar Jackson! WTF? Who writes this shit. My son has already texted me saying he heard it is going to happen. THIS is what I found. Again, who writes this shit?

So, this guy mentions not only our first two picks as trade fodder, but also throws in Geno, who we'd have to sign first. OK.

Looks like the Author misspelled his own name. Must be Zach Dimwitt instead of ZACH DIMMITT
