That said I do have some concerns about CB. Just seems so unsettled and even Riq is coming off injury.
Biggest Concern going into the season Poll
Biggest Concern going into the season Poll
For the most part I am confident, a division title and at least one playoff win. Hopes of NFC title game and Dreams of rolling naked in our SB winnings with maoling...

My biggest concern though, in addition to DT's remarks, is whether we stay healthy.

Re: Biggest Concern going into the season Poll
I look at this poll a few ways. I guess of those, the biggest concern would be Geno reverting back into Geno before last year. That would derail the season. Everything else is shit that happened last year and we still made the playoffs.
Re: Biggest Concern going into the season Poll
Begins and ends with stopping the run. If the front seven can be average, this team has so much depth everywhere they should be pretty formidable. I think the offense will be even better - Geno is the real deal - no one throws a prettier ball than he does - and he has soooo many options. That playbook just got even bigger - a luxury we never had with cringeruss. Stronger run defense and better third down efficiency and I think they could make some noise. I still kinda wish we had taken jalen carter to beef up that line, but they may be deep enough.

Great point on 3rd down efficiency and our three new weapons, a JSN, a McIntosh and a Bobo should help immensely if the play calling will oblige...auroraave wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 5:37 pmBegins and ends with stopping the run. Re: Biggest Concern going into the season Poll
Still, I don't recall ever watching a team worse at stopping the run than us last year....maybe a Jimmy Lake run 5 man front against Stanford and Colorado. But, we were Gawd Awful, and still made the playoffs. If Geno reverts? This offense will be in trouble. Unless they can work the same magic with Lock, but after last year? My guess is Geno would have to be hurt to miss a start. If he face plants? We miss the playoffs, IMO.auroraave wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 5:37 pmBegins and ends with stopping the run. I mean, really, what are the chances the run defense gets worse!? It would have to be epically bad. The four NFC South teams basically played single wing football against us and kicked our asses. The run defense was atrocious, and we were a Playoff team.
Re: Biggest Concern going into the season Poll
I don't think play calling is an issue - our OC is pretty good - but he can only work within the limitations of the offense and the QB. Because of wilson's limitations our playbooks were much smaller - that's not the case with Geno as we saw last year. We all spent too much time ripping on the OC's over the years - now we realize they might not have been the problem at all. I think Geno has yet to reach his ceiling and beleive he is going to be a legit MVP candidate this season - I'd put money on that. That offense looks legitimately frightening and I think that oline is a top ten unit easily. They are going to punish defenses. A defense lines up to stop the run? We go 11 formation and four wide. They go Dime? We run it up the middle. There is no weak spot offensively.D-train wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 5:45 pmGreat point on 3rd down efficiency and our three new weapons, a JSN, a McIntosh and a Bobo should help immensely if the play calling will oblige...auroraave wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 5:37 pmBegins and ends with stopping the run. Agreed. And I'm not worried about Geno.auroraave wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 5:37 pmBegins and ends with stopping the run. I am worried about cringeruss however. I think Cialis may leave him if he loses his starting role.douche wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 6:14 pmAgreed. Re: Biggest Concern going into the season Poll
I don't know how anybody votes for anything other than the fat guys in the middle. There is incredible talent in all the skill positions on both sides of the ball - but that won't do any good if the middle of the line gets caved in every play.
All the other stuff can be overcome - if Geno regresses, Lock looks adequate. The Oline and DBs have sucked in the past and we were still OK.
But there are big question marks about the interior of the DL. If they manage to somehow outperform, this team should be really good.
