Here's a proposed trade for Donovan with a bit of a twist. I suggest packaging in 1B Luken Baker. He was raking in AAA last year (.334/.439/.720 and OPS of 1.159). He didn't thrive when he got the call to the Show, but he only played in 33 games. I think there's a lot of potential in this kid, and right now he's blocked by Goldy.
With Donovan at keystone, I think the IF would be pretty solid.
The problem is, the Cards don't need another 1B so we'd be stuck with Ty, and they are flush with infielders, so we couldn't bundle in Caballero.
Anyhow...just messing around while eating lunch. Back to whatever you were just doing before my distraction.

The M's are flush with 2nd basemen. Why do we need another one when we've got Rojas, Bliss, Moore, and Cabby?Big_Maple wrote: ↑Wed Nov 08, 2023 7:49 pmHere's a proposed trade for Donovan with a bit of a twist. If they trade for Donovan it should probably be to play him in the outfield.

Absolutely and that is a scary drop off from AAA to MLB. Pretty small sample but I think France rebounds and we have Locklear with a .300 BA and .933 OPS in the AFL vs. the best minor league pitching in baseball...Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Wed Nov 08, 2023 8:00 pmThe M's are flush with 2nd basemen. For INF I would like Gorman who has more upside.

Morosi states that he's interested in what the Mariners would offer for Alonso.
I'd love him in Seattle.

I bet you the just hope France rebounds. I see one Corner OFer and one guy that can DH primarily and play OF/1B. Neither are impact bats.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Wed Nov 08, 2023 8:30 pmMorosi states that he's interested in what the Mariners would offer for Alonso.

Pete Alonso playing first base in Seattle is my dream scenario. We haven't had a true slugger ever at 1B have we? Does Ken Phelps count? I mean there was Tino, Alvin, Sorrento, and Olerud. Russell Branyan and the only true sluggers when I think of Mariner first basemen.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Wed Nov 08, 2023 8:30 pmMorosi states that he's interested in what the Mariners would offer for Alonso.

Did Gorman Thomas play 1B?

I like Donovan playing the outfield, then taking over for Suarez at 3B, when Geno leaves. Donovan won a gold glove.Big_Maple wrote: ↑Wed Nov 08, 2023 7:49 pmHere's a proposed trade for Donovan with a bit of a twist. I suggest packaging in 1B Luken Baker. But now I like Matt McLain as a target. He has more power, a righty who had a .290 batting average. He could also take over for Geno, but he'd play 2B before that.
