In fact it probably makes sense to try and score with home runs as anything. The three outcome hitter being the best fit

2001 SafeCo was also the worst park to hit in baseball.
The M's finished 4th in OPS, 1st in runs, 2nd in batting average, 4th to last in strikeouts,
Common denominator? Good hitters and no fkn excuses.

Anyone else catch this. So we are out on Ohtani and Gorman and Bellinger because this season we want training wheels for Canzone a 80 OPS+ bat.
This is Divish's speculation but still.

“We feel really good about our young left-handed bats, and we feel really good about our players up the middle [Rodriguez, Cal Raleigh and J.P. Crawford] and our overall power productivity. Now it’s just a matter of trying to fill in the gaps where we might be a little bit more flawed. We have a pretty good offensive team that sometimes struggles with contact, and we’re going to have to try to solve that.”
Other than Rodriguez, the Mariners outfielders on the 40-man roster — Jarred Kelenic, Dominic Canzone, Cade Marlowe and Taylor Trammell — are all left-handed hitters. A right-handed hitting outfielder would allow them to not expose Canzone to tough left-handed starting pitchers.

Bruh! We all knew this before the season even started. Did you honestly get you're hopes up? When was the last time that Seattle ever attracted a big FA hitter? I'll tell you. Robinson Cano. And we paid out the ass for him. The only thing Seattle will attract in free agency, is to hunt down mediocre to legit pitching. Somewhere in the middle. So sign as many as you can. And trade from the plethora that we already have. That seems to be the current plan while we wait several years for our next crop of young hitters to "possibly" develop.D-train wrote: ↑Fri Nov 10, 2023 3:04 pmAnyone else catch this. Sure but does any other GM go public with the handedness of the hitters or pitchers they are after. He is such a f-ing weirdo.
What it means to me is those Lefty OFers are going to get a LOT of playing time and he is going to rotate guys around depend on the handedness of the opposing starter again. So a bunch of guys that aren't good enough to play every day.

Of course they are going to get a lot of playing time. I think that's what gets missed, Dipoto likes his team. He isn't tossing it out and starting over. It's going to be about filling in the edges, the comment about less needs to fill

Re: Finally! Official Hot Stove League thread!
The ballpark generally suppresses rh hitters. That's what makes it more natural for lefty hitters and platoons.
Re: Finally! Official Hot Stove League thread!
Exactly we need LH Bats that are actually good enough to play every day not more RH bats to support the weak current LH bats we have.
Divish list four bats.
A guy that sucked after April and didn't hit a HR after June 9th
A guy that was sent down in September never to return
A guy that hit so poorly he barely played in Sept
A guy that had 1 big league AB after May 31st
Instead of just replace those guys he wants to get more mid RH bats because Jerry REALLY loves those you LH Bats!!!

Speculation - repeat spec-you-lay-shun that the M's are surprise suitors for Yamamoto.

I imagine a dreamworld filled with rainbow-farting unicorns and bottomless beer kegs where land Yamamoto AND Ohtani.
Nice to dream. Now back to reality.
