A year ago Milwaukee Brewers fans were discussing Luis Urias (an M's acquisition this Hot Stove season):

Jerry must have read these comments instead of looking at his 2023 stats of -0.2 WAR and a .636 OPS.

To be fair Urias has a decent finish to the season in his last 80 PAs. .234/.763 Hopefully it was the injuries demotion and trade that threw him out of whack but as best he will be average player.

Seattle has a combined 25 years of team control over its current starting rotation of Luis Castillo, George Kirby, Logan Gilbert, Bryce Miller and Bryan Woo at an estimated aggregate salary* of $186.7 million, or an average annual salary less than $7.5 million per starter. Attrition always looms but in today's pitching market, the Mariners are in an envious position.

Blake Snell may be asking for more money than the Mariners are estimated to owe their entire starting rotation in 25 years of team control.

* working off the estimates at Baseball Trade Values

Yep Snell will not only have to come with hat in hand, he will also need to have his pants down and bring his own barrel..

Maybe the M's can do a 3 team trade for Gorman, with Cease going to the Cards. Then sign Snell.
