IKF woulda been nice to get.
I think Toronto is cooked. They got Vlad and Bo for 1 more year. Springer will be 35 next year. Their big "3" SPs Berrios, Gausmann, and Bassitt are making a combined 60 million this year. And they are providing a collective 100 ERA+. I don't see a lot of young talent bursting to get PT. They have 2 top 100's but #1 is a lwfty who will not pitch again until 2025 and had an ERA in the 5's before going down this year. And a kid Martinez that had an OPS in the .800s in the minors before being called up.

Who ever made the decision in Toronto to "Clutch their precious little pearls" Is dumb. Toronto is a mess.

Oakland, on the other hand I get it they are moving to a new venue. the could have several Marque players: Rooker, Mason Miller, Bleday, Shea L. But they don't have a single starting pitcher that is even average. The one guy they sent down Hogan had an ERA+ of 135 in (GS/11 appearances. In my package I was sending them 3 top 100 style arms. The #1 pick, Logan Evans, and Troy Taylor. And then a couple more top 100 bats in T-Lock an Cole Young. That would have been a massive haul and what needed to happen.

The A's needed to suck one more year and get a top 5 selection, and build it up. :ugeek:

DiPoto blew it. Watch, because of his two-inch dick we're going to come up one game short again.

And there were available players that I'm sure wouldn't have cost us the farm.
Many posters on this forum would have caved in to a trade partner's unreasonable demands for a top-shelf hitter.

Perhaps Jerry Dipoto and Justin Hollander did not.

Guilty as charged, Counselor.

So far I am pretty pleased with Aroz and Turner.

Good thing I’m not the guy making the decisions. I’d have drained the farm for some dudes who were equally or less as effective, but who might sell more jerseys.

1 playoff appearance in a decade for this front office and coaching staff and you're still holding water for them.

Great... they kept the farm in tact. For what? So they can waste the best pitching staff they'll likely ever have?

Can't wait for Dustin Ackley, Nick Franklin, Brad Miller, Justin Smoak, DJ Peterson, Alex Jackson 2.0...

Must be saving all those awesome farm prospects for the next rebuild?
Are you upset about the bats that went elsewhere
or
The pitching that went elsewhere?

I don't think we should be looking down our nose because they couldn't pry a guy like Rooker or Vlad off when nobody else could either.
My issue is the philosophy of never signing a FA because they can just trade for a player, then blaming the market when they can't trade for a player. They will always be in need of a tear down a rebuild because they will never go all in on a rebuild. Won't pay for free agents and won't give up the farm for big trades. 54%, here we come.

We got a lot better at the deadline. Randy A. is a stud in the playoffs. Just Turner is still a decent professional bat. I'd rank Randy ties with Isaac for best bat that moved and Turner the #7

The BP guys Tanner is #1, #2 Dylan Florio 192 ERA+ in 51+ innings, #3Carlos Estavez 181 ERA+ on the year 112 career. #4 Jason Adam 158 ERA+ 180+ last 3) #5 Yimi Garcia 161 ERA+ this year, #6 Bryan Hoeing 6'6" 2.7 ERA, #7 Andrew Chaffin 135 ERA+, #8 JT Chargois 2.73 ERA the last 4 years he'd be higher but only 16 innings this year so that discounts his 1.62 ERA on the year

I will mention #1 Flaherty 144 ERA+ #2 Erick Fedde 135 ERA+ converted from a crappy BP guy does he hit a wall?, and he has a CC year) was one of the big gets for SP Alex Cobb 108 ERA+

Or, we could have not traded away Tyson Miller for a bag of rocks. 25 innings of 1.44 ERA since the trade

I like the deadline moves. I wish they added more, but the guys I think would have really made a difference weren’t moved. Biggest thing is they got a legit bat in Arozarena who will be here for 2 more years. With Polonco turning it around, then their offense might just be mediocre the rest of the year. Turner also adds a veteran presence, and can still put together good AB.
