Re: OT: 2025 Annual Masters Golf Contest: 10 – 13 April
The forum has gone silent so I do declare my dear friend Moston Mike wins the day. He chose Rory so he wins. Done. Deal. Boys.

No disagreement. Mister Moston Mike wins the Day.
Rocky Colavito is a Hall of Famer in my book!

Honestly, I probably would have chose Rory or scheffler to win outright, just didn’t like the chance of picking him and not having any more money for this game.
It was a fun weekend, and everyone that watched won with one of the greatest golf endings in history

Or we kick all the LIV mother-fuckers out of our contest and the winner of our contest is based on FedEx points received (and not strokes).mostonmike wrote: ↑Sun Apr 13, 2025 7:50 pmWell for the PGA Championship there will have to be a forced change to the format because I am in the US and might not have a laptop to do formula setting up.Walla Walla Dawg II wrote: ↑Sun Apr 13, 2025 7:07 pmI believe the intent is to assemble a team to win, not one that can be jockeyed around for the weekend.
I think I am going to have to implement the format Pick 5 players and your best 3 count system for the whole tournament. No changes at the cut.
If you don't get 3 players through to the weekend, you miss the cut yourself. I wont be able to get the scoreboard working without access to a laptop, the sheet is awful on mobile and iPad to do tweaks. We will have to try something different.
This should create the need for a team to be built.
The amazing prospect could lie that you have Scheffler on -7, Player 2 on -3 and 3 who miss the cut. You will be out because you havent got 3 players through. It penalises "eggs in one basket" strategy.
It's a format that comes through needs-must.
Bil's lead is currently cut to 7 (edit down to 6 and even further down to 5 by the start of the Ms game)
Come on Rory.....
Go Ms.....

LOL I wasn't the one whining. I was just suggesting not changing the current rules mid tourney instead of crying about them because they weren't working for you. I didn't leave myself a dime for the weekend, 2 of my 3 made the cut, the 3rd barely missed and still managed 4th place.

Thanks for the kind comments about the running of the contest. It makes it worthwhile when you get the appreciation. I really enjoy doing it and look forward to the PGA next month.
I also can understand that everyone wants to make constructive suggestions about structure. We all enjoy this and want to see a close and competitive tourney go down to the wire.
Interestingly there was a point near the end, about 2 holes to play, when our top 2 and the real top 2 were all on -10. Maybe the format is actually close to spot on after all?
I will adopt some slight differences for each contest. Each major is different and the same should apply here. I reckon we try a draft for the US Open and the PGA will be a qualifier for the order of picks. The Open will need to take into account the time difference and I have ideas for that as well.
I think I have learned for myself that I need to use Darren's style at times as well, "the rules are the rules". I promise to make sure that becomes a catchphrase during tourney weekends
I don't fall out with all the suggestions pitched. All good ideas with the right intentions.
But remember this, if you want to introduce complicated algorithms, bonus and penalty points then keep in mind someone ( your foreign friend ) needs to work out a way to execute them into the spreadsheet.
Keep it simple, guys. We will never get it perfect but it's bloody good what we have....
