2/5* Game Thread Woo v Leiter
Re: 2/5* Game Thread Woo v Leiter
Looks like the new hitting coaches are geniuses.
Dare I say that Dip’s strategy of no trades and keeping starting pitching is paying off?
Less is More.

Welp, solid.
M's get to face Corbin who was the worst pitcher in baseball the last 3 seasons.
I don't think I've ever been more pissed off watching the fucker go 7 innings of shutout ball with 9 K's against the M's in 2023.
Destroy him.

Mariners closer Andres Munoz was named the American League Reliever of The Month. He's the first AL Reliever of The Month of the season

The Mariner hitting woes had been overblown the past few seasons.
This past offseason an astute observer grew tired of posting at multiple forums that "last season the Mariners posted a wRC+ of 104, including a league-leading wRC+ of 118 after August 15":

The park- and league-adjusted OPS+ and ERA+ the past three seasons (with AL rank):
2024: OPS+ 103 (5th), ERA+ 106 (7th)
2023: OPS+ 108 (4th), ERA+ 106 (7th)
2022: OPS+ 106 (4th), ERA+ 104 (6th)

I haven't seen a Mariners player hit home runs like this in a short amount of time since Griffey. 12 HR in a little over a month. Granted, I doubt he keeps this pace up the entire season, but 40 HR is certainly a possibility, even if he cools off.
So Fun to Watch!!

Everyone knows the problem was with the offenses the last 3 seasons. As I’ve said, anyone who thinks the M’s offense was better than their pitching staff is insane and not to be taken seriously.
If anything, it just shows how flawed wRC+ is as a stat and needs to be adjusted.

Thought bpj has demonstrated how the quality of the pitching has been overstated
