So basically a meatball lol. Well thank God for wild pitch and Polanco.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sun Jun 15, 2025 4:45 amIt wasn't a cutter. It was a 2-seamer on the inner half.

That's funny. I'm watching without volume and seeing Polanco get interviewed didn't make me want to turn up the sound because knew it would be pointless.seattlefan-daBronx wrote: ↑Sun Jun 15, 2025 4:44 amOMG.
Between fish hook and Polanco attempting to speak English post game interview.......my ears hurt.![]()
In defense of the ESL players, even native speakers have nothing to say in postgame interviews. The media training or whatever makes them all boring Russell Wilsons.
Cal is the most disappointing, because I suspect he might have more interesting thoughts than the stupid, "one game at a time," or "it's a team win" garbage.

So...............................Player of the game is Julio???

Sorry Millikin. Couldn't help myself. You may have a point, but walking JP to face Julio should be the most thunderous, insulting bitchslap, wake up call he has ever encountered and it was the right call and it worked. Except for the wild pitch. The Indians played the odds and won that ploy. Way too easily. Julio.....does it even dawn on you to go look in the mirror and figure out you need to make some baseball adjustments?
Good win.

I agree it's insulting, but he truly, definitely would have K'd before the wild pitch in the last couple seasons.rockycola wrote: ↑Sun Jun 15, 2025 4:51 amSo...............................Player of the game is Julio???![]()

Being that Julio's a pretty solid singles hitter at this point (and statistically not bad in clutch situations this season), I was a bit surprised they walked Crawford to see him. Plus, he hit a flyball earlier that would have scored the winning run.
Guaranteed, if Julio hits a sacrifice fly for the tie, the Guardian Talk forum would be trashing Vogt for the intentional walk.

Re: .500 Saturday the 14th GT
Canzone single
Moore (PR) steals second
Mastrobuoni (PH for Williamson) walks
Young sac bunt (1 out) runners on 2nd and 3rd
Crawford intentional walk
Moore scores on wild pitch
Rodriguez strikes out swinging (2 out)
Raleigh intentional walk
Polanco singles
What can you say about this for a team effort? Got to applaud Wilson for the pinch runner and pinch hitting selections - that paid off. As mentioned by others as well - if you were Julio surely the intentional walk of JP and subsequent strikeout has got to hurt despite the result? I know CLE wanted to set up a double play opportunity - but he should be completely insulted by this and respond with a streak that he is capable of.
We do hate on him a lot, even after a big win - but the sequence above shows he was the only one in the game in the 9th that didn't contribute. He should be the one winning the game, thus taking the credit for the walk-off, perhaps he hates Gatorade baths or something?

I think it's simply that he knows the pressure that is on him to perform and fails in the face of it.mostonmike wrote: ↑Sun Jun 15, 2025 5:24 amCanzone single

He probably wears a lot of the teams recent struggle as a problem with himself and doesn't have a clear head in big moments.
I hate to say it, but some guys just have it in these situations. I'm not sure Julio ever will... which is the thing that worries me the most. I just don't think he'll ever add up to anything more than Adam Jones w. better defense.

Agree and its a shame. He doesn't look like he revels in those moments. Even Polanco there just stepped up with some composure, look relaxed and seemed to know what he was going to do. Nothing spectacular but the outcome for the team was.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sun Jun 15, 2025 5:26 amI think it's simply that he knows the pressure that is on him to perform and fails in the face of it.

Just googled some stats on him, that 17 hit streak in 4 games a couple of seasons ago is a classic example of what he is capable of. That was a short spell of hitting not seen in a hundred years. And I know he's going to have a spell any time imminently where he goes on a bit of a rampage. Hope it starts tomorrow - we do root for him and want him to be the star, but he can be the most frustrating player on the team. And that says something when we have Garver. At least he's shit and knows he is.

Mariners win! We're HEROES!!!
Man, it looked like we were dead and then Canzone with another big hit, Young with the sac bunt, D-Mo's wheels get us a run, and then after Julio somehow misses a hanging cookie before striking out because he sucks in the clutch, Polanco wins it!
SWEEP THESE BUMS TOMORROW. AND THEN FART ON THEIR HEADS.
