Trade deadline 6 wks away -- who are your untouchables?
Trade deadline 6 wks away -- who are your untouchables?
As of June 20, we are 41 days away from the July 31 trade deadline (yes, it is on July 31 this yr, I double checked)
The M's will make a move. I bet my car on it. I personally would put more emphasis on our pitching starting to turn the corner (Ms aren't going anywhere if the starters don't pick it up... need more consistency, more dominance) and getting guys like Arozarena, Rodriguez, Raley, Polanco all going. If we can get 2 of the 4 over .850 OPS and the other 2 above .775, we'll be cooking.
That said, with a trade set to come, here are my DON'T YOU DARE MOVE players:
Harry Ford
Michael Arroyo
Laz Montes
Felnin Celesten
Jonny Farmelo
Sauryn Lao

I like your list but I would add 2....Cijntie and Sloan
I think both will ultimately be high end SP for the M's. The staff is young, but no one has signed an extension. Castillo will be moving on and with injuries and potential free agency, the M's need to keep high end starters in the pipeline.

What, you'd let them trade away Stallion Emerson? I thought he was a guaranteed HoFer...

Sauryn Lao... a pitcher they DFA'd earlier this year? Is an "untouchable?"Vogelbomb wrote: ↑Sat Jun 21, 2025 12:15 amAs of June 20, we are 41 days away from the July 31 trade deadline (yes, it is on July 31 this yr, I double checked)

Bro you are always pure comedy.
Ford is their best trade chip.

Lao is a hidden gem. Maybe not untouchable but I don't want to see him dealt.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sat Jun 21, 2025 2:31 am

Ford is certainly a big time player but I wouldn't be surprised if more teams call about Arroyo, Emerson and Celesten. Sloan and Cijntje will also get hit on. Maybe Morales and Evans, too.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sat Jun 21, 2025 2:31 am

Trading away Sloan would hurt, but I'd much rather move him than any of the guys I mentioned. Lao is progressing as a starter. You've got Evans. Plus the draft coming up.

Yeah, Sauryn Lao is definitely untouchable. Sure. Future Cy Young winner, no doubt. I mean, I might be tempted if the Royals gave up Bobby Witt. But other than that, keep your grubby hands off Sauryn!

I think their best trade chip is Hancock or Evan’s for some one that wants an MLB pitcher now or close to contending , think oriolesSeattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sat Jun 21, 2025 2:31 amSauryn Lao... a pitcher they DFA'd earlier this year?
