Another trade deadline plan.
Re: Another trade deadline plan.
Young sucked in April and then snapped out of it but WHY can't a single one of these guys rake like Alvin Davis did.

It's where they fall among hitters in the league. So essentially they are in the bottom 30% if not bottom 10% of most contact metrics.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 5:20 pmWhat do those bars represent, percentiles?Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sun Jun 29, 2025 11:19 pmApparently we missed the part where I said that he'd be a pure platoon in right cause he's one of the better hitters in the league against lefties...
I think the most glaring needs are now 3B, 2B, Reliever...
I present to you the Baseball Savant pages of Cole Young and Ben Williamson.
Yikes.

Re: Another trade deadline plan.
You don't even need them to "rake."
Just have a .700ish OPS... but they can't even do that.
Young's 23% K rate and just 4.5% BB rate is very, very alarming for a guy who makes his $$ on equal K:BB splits with little power.
He was walking about about a 14% rate and striking out at a 13% rate in Tacoma...

he's been getting jobbed by the big league umps. Lots of bad to iffy K callsSeattle or Bust wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 10:57 pmYou don't even need them to "rake."

Re: Another trade deadline plan.
And I know it's vogue to rip on M's prospects, but Jac Caglianone, a stud for the Royals at 22, former 6th overall, is at .165/.211/.271 over his first 90 PAs since being called up.
I mean so MLB isn't easy. I like what I've seen from Young so far despite being given little opportunity in the 9 hole and getting jobbed by umps

It's pretty unusual for a rookie to rake on their initial call up isn't it, Elly De La Cruz did didn't he
Re: Another trade deadline plan.
Boston's rookie Kristian Campbell is also having a rough start to his MLB career. He just 23. Hitting .223/.319/.345 with an 87 OPS+

The Royals were also really dumb to call him up. He had 229 minor league AB's... Young has 1473.Vogelbomb wrote: ↑Tue Jul 01, 2025 1:22 amAnd I know it's vogue to rip on M's prospects, but Jac Caglianone, a stud for the Royals at 22, former 6th overall, is at .165/.211/.271 over his first 90 PAs since being called up.

I'm not saying Young will never be a good ball player. But he shouldn't be on this team at the moment.
