Final Trade Deadline Plan
Re: Final Trade Deadline Plan
Ideally I'd get Geno and Kelly. As most of you - I'm tired of giving away a game every 5 days and I'm not sold on Miller coming back to form. Call it an off year or whatever - but it seems its just not really set for him or Gilber/Kirby yet - they have shown flashes but are taking way to long to get back into form - can't have that with Miller and he was already poor before he want on the IL this year - twice.
Get Suarez/Kelly
Give: Hancock or Evans - whichever they prefer, Williamson, Celestin, and another mid-level pitching prospect.
Sounds like the asking price for Geno is unreal - probably asking for Emerson or Montes or Sloan or even a combo of those guys. For a 2 month rental that's a hard pass but if it got you Cruz or Acuna for example with years of control - then by all means do it.
Could also just do Kelly for Hancock or Evans and a mid-lower level prospect.

If I am the GM and Geno is walking out the door in two moths I would take the best trade available. The question is do you think anyone else is going to offer them something more valuable than a major league starter with a 3.64 ERA and 5 years of control left? I think you are underestimating the value that Evans has on the market.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 29, 2025 8:37 pmOkay, put yourself in Arizona's shoes. If you were the Arizona GM, would you make those trades? If you were a D-Backs fan, would you want your GM to make those trades? Also, consider the offers that other franchises will be making.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 29, 2025 3:50 amEvans alone is an overpay. They wouldn't laugh at that. Bliss and Ward are just filler Pieces with MLB experience that can fill some holes short term. If they want a player like Evans they aren't going to get anything else of value in addition.

Reading the tea leaves i feel like the Geno move for two months is too rich for Seattle.
Arizona asking for too much.
Check out this...

JD inquiring about MN players again.
But a different deal than this morning.
I actually like the Castro / Jax idea.
Or Duran and Jax! We need middle relief this year more than bats I'd argue.

I'm not interested in Castro unless he is a bench player to replace Dylan Moore. He would be a bit of an upgrade offensively at either 3b or 2b but his defense is not great. His WAR is .5 lower than Williamson in about the same amount of games and is equal to Cole Young in twice the games played. That's just not moving the needle enough to be worth it in my opinion.
Re: Final Trade Deadline Plan
You may end up being right. Right now, Arizona supposedly wants the moon but probably no one is paying that so we'll see what they settle for at the deadline.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 29, 2025 9:08 pmIf I am the GM and Geno is walking out the door in two moths I would take the best trade available. I see where we are now looking to the Rockies go relief. Kind of looks like not a significant improvement and Jerry’s still in something for nothing mode. If we are going to swim in the deep end we are going to have to pay what it takes for a controllable stud.

I willing to do a big time blockbuster with Minny. Take our top 10 & gimme Ryan, Jax, & Duran.
Minny gets: Ford (#1), Emerson (#3) , Sloan (#5) , Celestin (#6) , Walter Ford, Michael Morales (#12) , McGraw (#14) , Peete (#10)
Seattle gets: Joe Ryan, Duran, Jax

Saw this idea.....what do you think? Worth it?
Joe Ryan and Griffin Jax from MN to the Seattle Mariners in exchange for top prospects Harry Ford, Felnin Celesten, and Tyler Locklear.

Yeah, I wonder what the other teams offered. They couldn't top Locklear?Captain 97 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 31, 2025 4:53 amGot for way less than I even thought.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 29, 2025 8:37 pmOkay, put yourself in Arizona's shoes.
