7/31/25 GT: Reunited and it feels so good

Post by DavidGee24 » Thu Jul 31, 2025 5:19 pm

Presumably we'll have Geno in the lineup tonight, and hopefully he doesn't take one look at T-Mobile and flash back to 2023. He's been in a slump lately although as recently as a week and a half ago he had back-to-back two-dinger games.

This is the best lineup we've had since the early 2000s and this should start translating into some serious butt-whoopins instead of making opponents' rotation flotsam like the bum we're facing tonight (Kumar Rocker) look like the second comings of Pedro Martinez and Sandy Koufax. I'm excited about tonight's game and hopefully you guys are too.

One thing that needs to happen is Kirby and Gilbert need to pitch the way they know how and stop having those inexplicable four-run innings. I'm guessing that it's just not going to happen for Miller this year and we might be stuck with Evans who should NEVER pitch in bandboxes like New York and Sacramento.

Hopefully sometime today we'll get more good news that we've acquired a top relief pitcher. If we can add at least that the rest of the league is going to be prairie-dogging something awful.

Now let's go out there this weekend, knock these bums down and fart on their heads.

Recent Progress:

July 2025 Updates: Miller resumed a light throwing program in late June, progressing to playing catch from 90 feet by early July. He threw his first bullpen session on July 5, consisting of about 20 fastball pitches, and reached velocities of 95-97 mph during a live batting practice (BP) session on July 18. He reported feeling good with no pain.

Live BP and Rehab Assignment: On July 19, Miller completed a live BP session, mixing in secondary pitches, and was optimistic about starting a minor-league rehab assignment soon. By July 21, Mariners GM Justin Hollander indicated Miller would likely throw another live BP to build pitch count before beginning a rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma, aiming for a controlled environment to increase his workload.

Rehab Assignment Timeline: A post on X from July 28 suggested Miller could start a rehab assignment soon, with a potential return to the Mariners’ rotation by mid-August, provided he remains pain-free and continues to build strength. His bullpen outing showed promising velocity (up to 97 mph), indicating progress toward regaining his 2024 form (2.94 ERA, 171 strikeouts).

Gilbert's numbers this year are so weird. He just can't stay away from the long ball and the big inning.

Wow that lineup looks deep. Solid on paper. Needs to be solid on the field. Ride those very very high vibes.

I've posted a couple times that his ERA/WHIP splits are probably the weirdest in MLB history. In 2024 he had a WHIP of 0.887 and an ERA of 3.23. Out of everyone who's ever posted a WHIP under 0.900, the next highest ERA is 2.46. Mind-blowing.

I thought that was you that posted that awhile back. That is so freaking crazy.

Let's hope the new an improved lineup provides more run support. This team is so all or nothing. It is bizarre how some games they just look like they couldn't hit water if they fell out of a boat, and it's up and down the lineup. I was looking at the game logs recently, and the runs scored in wins versus losses is crazy. They had some lower outputs in games they actually won, but it was usually they score a bunch and win or don't score shit and they lose.

Yep if this continues these offensive moves aren't really going to make that much of a difference. You're just not going to win when your giving up 6 or 7 runs every other game. They are 6-7 since the all star break. In their 7 losses the opponents have averaged 6.42 Runs per game. In the 6 wins their opponents have averaged 2.0 Runs per game.
