Philly Karen

I'm surprised that the forum hasn't talked about this yet.

I've been seeing an alarming amount of praise for the father for giving the ball to PK when in fact he just peed down his leg and gave in to a bully. I mean, he'd already GIVEN THE BALL TO HIS SON when she came howling at him like a harpy and he literally reacted with fright, reached into his son's glove, took the ball that was rightfully his son's, and handed it to the bitch.

Sure, you don't want to get into a fight, but you've just had an awesome father-son bonding moment, you have ushers and security around you who can get her away from you and toss her off the premises if necessary, and you just immediately give in like a beta male to a freaking old bat? He's lucky it's 2025 and cameras are on everything so the kid ended up making out like a bandit and getting free stuff from the Phillies, getting Fraidy Father off the hook. I'd just hate to see how that guy would react if someone tried to drag his son into a windowless white van in front of him.

What do you guys think?

The Bitch is a psycho with no concept of ball park etiquette in terms of it is anybody's ball if it isn't caught and yeah the guy must have drank a gallon of soy milk before the game.

The news I've read since then is that her life has become a living hell. She gets nothing but voracious shit from one and all. She is ready to leave the country.

On the other hand, the Dad and son have gotten praise, other balls, a big gift bag from the stadium/team, got to meet the batter and he gave him his signed bat. There has been positive press, interviews, etc.

I totally disagree with him peeing down his leg in cowardice. He did a remarkable lesson in the art of diplomacy, de-escalation of an abhorrent, entitled bitch episode. Some company has offered her $5,000 for the ball, which they will gift to the boy; she has to write, "I'm Sorry" on the ball.

More good became of this, a far more valuable life lesson to his son, because of his very manly, very mature actions.

Seeing his high level of character, I think he would have chased, caught and ripped the throats out of any white van perps.

Totally different scenarios, in my opinion.

Karen is getting far more comeuppance than if they "scrapped" in the stands; who knows where that would have gone. What could go wrong with 2 bullies fighting over a ball, in front of so many impressionable eyes?

Dad has my utmost respect for his honorable actions.

agreed rocky, with all the crazy crap fathers can come with over sports and their sons these days, I am thinking assaulting coaches and refs or whatever. In the heat of the moment a lesson not to get down in the mud over a baseball. I don't think I have the temperament to have handled it like that but that was the way to do it

I think it's really low class when people (usually young or middle-aged men) jump in front of someone that is seated or standing to try to catch a baseball or, worse, tussle and scramble to get at a ball that is on the ground in the stands. It exhibits a disregard for others and a lack of basic impulse control that one would expect from a pack of wild animals. I don't know that this man did anything like that, but if he encroached on the woman's space where she was seated and/or grabbed away a baseball that she was in the act of picking up then i can understand why she might get upset. And i don't think that sets a good example to his son. People should stay in their fucking seats and let the ball land and then if it bounces towards them go ahead and get it but don't act like a pirahna on a feeding frenzy. It's another example of the slow decay of values in our society.

Two things here: first, if dad had grabbed the ball, saw Karen's reaction and then gave it to her, that would be fine. However, once he put it in his son's glove that was the point of no return. It was his son's property and the bonding moment had taken place. And second, they only got all that stuff is because the camera stayed on them. If that hadn't been the case they would have went home empty-handed with the day totally ruined and the son sitting there thinking did my dad REALLY do that?

If dad keeps the ball and Karen ends up returning to her seat (presumably at the urging of ushers; again, that's what their job is), she's probably not going through this right now.

And I don't think writing "I'm sorry" on a baseball for $ 5,000 is really being sorry. Hell, for $ 5,000 I'd write "I'm sorry for being such a big old butthole" complete with illustration.

Agree with you on that, I shake my head at the sight of grown men scrambling for the ball. Frankly, I don't even want to bend over for one that rolls at my feet. It's gotta be on the fly right into my glove.

Dad handled it well. If there was no kid involved I’m sure he wouldn’t have put up with her shit.
