I once commented that SH could win $700 million in powerball and would complain that he had to drive 15 minutes to the Lottery Offices to pick up the check instead of them delivering it to him. lolDanielVogelbach wrote: ↑Sun Sep 21, 2025 3:44 pmThey shut them out the rest of the way and won the game. You gotta answer back after that grand slam and try to regain some control over the flow of the game. That's what good teams do. But the Mariners don't.
This one is so classic. Sibelius has brought negativity to levels I never thought were humanly possible.
I could see the Mariners winning the whole thing and as they're popping champagne in the locker room Sibelius will be telling us about how the repeat is gonna be impossible if they don't resign Naylor and fix the bullpen.

This is pretty much accurate. Basketball also. Sports where you impose your will versus a sport where you play baseball.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Sun Sep 21, 2025 4:42 pmI think of football fans watching a baseball game, which is okay
But, SH takes it to all new levels. Gotta think it's a bit of an act. Robles flies in to make one of the greatest catches in Mariners history, the Mariners jump into the #2 seed in the AL, and then we want to hyper focus on the fact that the Ms weren't able to score any insurance runs in the 8th or the 9th.
It's not easy to put together a baseball roster that wins more than it loses, and the very best attempts net around a 60% winning percentage even when spending 3x more than your opponents. This is over a hundred years of historical evidence. It's not gonna be a Miami Dolphins undefeated season. It's gonna basically require some miraculous things to happen. The baseball gods have to smile in your favor. Yesterday that happened.
I missed yesterday's game, but heard the final call on a KIRO stream. You could just feel it unraveling. I think a decent chunk of crowd had left the building, but a lot still there and they got loud when that ball came off the bat, and then just stunned silence. Game over! That was amazing. The whole backstory of Robles getting injured on a previous catch and then coming back to make that catch. It's legendary.
And remember, Ichiro never dove for balls! Who's your favorite Mariners right-fielder of all time? Buhner? Ichiro? I mean Robles is worth the price of admission in my book!

That was more of a frustration comment about the hitting late, but my main point was that the Ms' bullpen will keep them from getting to the WS and i stand by that. It took a great catch to keep them from blowing a 6 run lead yesterday and you think we should feel good about that? Win a big game without needing a diving catch miracle DP with your "ace" reliever on the mound and i'll feel good.DanielVogelbach wrote: ↑Sun Sep 21, 2025 5:49 pmBut, SH takes it to all new levels. If the ball stays up a couple of feet it's an easy grab. Geesh.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Sun Sep 21, 2025 7:00 pm

Thanks man! Yeah, the crowd did erupt. They thought it was a base hit. Then all got pissed at the runner, when even they were all fooled themselves. It was a great night. Had M's fans sitting right behind us too.rockycola wrote: ↑Sun Sep 21, 2025 5:04 amGreat family pic there, Sexy!!!Sexymarinersfan wrote: ↑Sun Sep 21, 2025 3:26 amWas at the Game tonight to witness Cal BREAKING the record!!!
Happy for you and the family getting to see Cal making history and Robles' sensational grab.
Thanks for bringing good fortune!

So far, I was wrong about Robles, I thought signing him to a multi year contract was absurd.DanielVogelbach wrote: ↑Sun Sep 21, 2025 5:49 pmThis is pretty much accurate. Basketball also.
